The takedown action follows a calculated strike by South Korean entertainment giant Kakao Entertainment, which is pursuing legal proceedings against the operator while also going after Reddit moderators, Discord mods, and others. Meanwhile, new targets are already identified.

The most significant blow to the operation is the identification of Bato.to’s founder and core developer. P.CoK confirmed to TorrentFreak that they have tracked the individual to their country of residence, where legal proceedings are now active.

“We are aware that some of these individuals are also involved in the operation of MangaPark and AniXL, and we are preparing strong legal actions against Mangapark as well as newly established Bato-affiliated sites,” P.CoK concludes, suggesting that their work is not done yet.

Piracy will always win in the end. Some sites that are complacent or have owners with bad opsec will get whacked, and others will pop up to replace them.

The problem with this case was that site had a lot of old shit, very valuable scans. Now do backups exist? Probably. It isn't good it got taken down so easily. It will take a while to make another with a fraction of the backlog
