"Algorithm Sluts" or How to develop a completely faux-personality
You've probably seen zoomers and general internet users obsessed with certain "forced" niche interests. Yknow, shit like "Analog horror," The Backrooms, Every copy of Mario 64 is haunted, fake Piracy Screens, Nostalgiafagging and (failing) to emulate it; forced memes like the Ahnka Animal Crossing dance or Bowling gif where the joke is just "LOL PORN!"
These type of interests and behaviors can't really be classified as "normie" because they're still somewhat specific and niche to those types of groups, but it's so unbelievably forced and unfunny that you can't really say they're esoteric in nature either.
Which is why I would categorize these type of users as "Algorithm Sluts": People who only "go with the flow" of what type of goyslop Big Tech like Youtube/TikTok/Twitter feeds them on their homepage.
Or in other words:
The idea behind this was inspired by a thread I saw in /soy/ that talked about a similar topic (as well as one chud coming up with the name) and I wanted to know what you think of these type of people and whether this term applies to them.
For what it's worth, the term "algorithm sluts" feels like it fits more the content creators who will entirely base what they do based on what's currently trending. Maybe algorithm zombie or something might fit better?
Also, from the image, half of the shit is coomer bait. It feels like people have confused being horny with "humor"
In my opinion, it's the greatest difference between Zoomers and millennials at the same age. Millennials needed everything to be a "cause" and were heavily susceptible to peer pressure and traditional media, whereas Zoomers are extremely impressionable with regard to algorithms and what they're exposed to online and regard their existence as extremely individualized, separate from those around them except those in their "group". They unfailingly regard their group as intimate and small, regardless of the actual objective numbers of those involved. There could be a million people involved in something and they regard it as them and one or two buddies.
It's almost like Zoomers all exist in their own little individual worlds based on what tech giants feed them, while millennials placed a premium on being "citizens of the same world." It actually results in greater diversity of thought and being less easy to manipulate, but also causes them to all be borderline retarded as a consequence.
All I get from this is that the internet and memes will be shit once enough Zoomers start flooding it. Zoomers are like the left in that they can't meme. Their memes come off as cringey and weird. Millennials will be the only generation with good internet culture and that could actually make good memes. The Boomers will have better music. Millennials will have better internet culture better memes the ability to meme also they will know how to use computers. But the Millennials grew up with some really shit tier music. Zoomers will have shit internet culture shit music and not know how to use computers or make good memes. The only good thing is they are like Boomers and can't use computers so maybe that will save the internet. If they can't access it from a phone, they don't use it.
pretty much every significant million plus sub youtuber like Charlie and Mutahar can be best described as exactly that since that's literally all thier content is.
How do people even watch their shit? Charlie was always mind numbingly boring and Mutahars shit has just become awful in the past half decade, but at least his stuff was at least watchable at one point.
Youtube is recommending me a lot of that shit and I'm not budging. I don't even know what that is but Youtube feels the need to recommending me the audiobooks, icebergs and videos about it.

It's too bad too because I get the feeling gen Z would be into less lame stuff if they had any kind of culture or identity to base their tastes and behavior off of besides whatever's fed to them.
A while back someone here on the site mentioned how they're going to become a teacher but will be out of touch with the younger generation, and the reality is that I don't think that's even true anymore. For the first time in recent history we may be at a point where young people have no unique culture that older generations aren't privy to, because they don't have much shared culture to begin with and what culture they do have is defined algorithmically by the same internet everyone else uses.
That's troubling. When you hit 30 I'm pretty sure it's a natural part of the cycle of life to start not understanding what the kids are up to anymore.
Admittedly the image may be a bit dated since it has stuff like the Incredible Uncanny meme and Lo-Fi Girl which aren't really in the "Now" right now, but I agree I don't think All Tomorrows reached "forced niche" status like some of the other examples shown.
I agree that normie doesn't fit but why do we need a new word when "redditor" has always and continues to work to describe this kind of FotM obsessed person?

the new crop is so braindead that even reading a thread about their pop-niche interest is too heady, they need it in 15 second video clips with live black people reactions.
