A Halifax teenager initially accused of being part of an international online terrorism group is now headed to restorative justice on a single charge of possession of child exploitation material.

During a brief appearance in Nova Scotia youth court in Halifax on Thursday morning, lawyers for the teen announced the diversion to the restorative justice program.

If he completes the program, the charge will be withdrawn when the matter returns to court in August.
Halifax Regional Police announced last October they were charging a 16-year-old with five child sexual abuse and exploitation material offences. They alleged at the time that he was a member of the 764 group, which coerces children into harming themselves and posting compromising images online.

But in one of the first court hearings, the Crown withdrew the four most serious charges, leaving the single charge of possession of child exploitation material.

Another German 18 year old was arrested for extortion (or at least someone residing in Germany, can't know his name cause he's under 21).

According to the prosecution, there is no personal connection between the defendant and “White Tiger.” However, the 18-year-old is alleged to have modeled his actions on those of the 764 group, of which “White Tiger” was a member.

According to the indictment, he targeted seven girls on online platforms and coerced them into sexual acts. The alleged victims were between the ages of 12 and 15. The defendant is alleged to have emotionally manipulated them and persuaded them to engage in increasingly serious acts. According to the indictment, he persuaded one victim to carve his name into her skin.

The tip about the defendant came from the U.S. He is also alleged to have arranged meetings with gay men through dating sites and, when they met, attacked them with pepper spray for homophobic reasons.

The defendant was arrested in December. Since he was a minor at the time of all the alleged offenses, the public is completely barred from the trial. The court has so far scheduled 16 trial dates through mid-September.
