I think Commifornia requires a background check for all gun sales, even private ones. I'm glad they do in this case. He could always buy a black market one out of the trunk of some homie's hoopty, but that would me actually interacting with another person IRL who isn't a tattoo artist or fast food cashier, so that ain't gon' happen.

He could always try getting one in Oregon. But then he'd have to interact with the type of person who'd own a gun. And considering those types don't take too kindly to anti-American pseudo-communists, I'd say it's a safe bet he isn't getting one that way either.

As for buying one from out the back of a car, again no. The guy doing that would take one look at Phil, see a damn easy target and proceed to either rob him at gun point or beat his ass and take his money.

Also the guy might be black. Black people scare Phil.

This is similar to the debate we continually had about Jace ever getting a gun at a gun show or something. Often it was brought up that it was kind of a moot point because Jace was shit with money and couldn't save worth a damn. I think that argument applies here.

It's fake. It looks to be either a pellet gun or airsoft. Probably had it to scare people into thinking it was real and that he is "SUPER DANGEROUS PINKO TRANNY!"
