I'm already seeing people on other sites saying they'll never go back, but who knows if that will hold up if the site actually comes back.

It doesn't really take much for people to move on and find alternatives or new experiences. The best and most common comparisons I've seen is how 4chan was a domestic abuse partner that occasionally did nice things or said nice things to you, but overall was pure cancer to your mental and physical sanity. At a certain point you just say enough is enough and completely omit that bad chapter of your life and move on.
