Every time I see people bitch about 4chan, I think of this meme that was made some time in the late 2000s/early 2010s when dear mootykins was still in control.

/b/ was never good, but like... it was never intolerable rubbish. These newfangled CAPTCHAs make it borderline impossible to tell someone they're being a nigger.

How in the absolute fuck are these autists who still cling to image boards able to effectively live on 4chan when the entire website is universally shittier than it was 10 years ago in terms of usability?

Lack of alternatives. Compared to the rest of the Internet 4chan is tolerable despite it's current abysmal quality. The anonymous image board medium is what fosters the most constructive discussion even in a sea of shitposts. 8chan is gone and I don't know if there will ever be enough social inertia to succesfully create an alternative imageboard with an active and continously growing userbase that can rival 4chan.

This is a bit before your join date but FYI - Null tried his hand at an image board with 9chan in 2018/2019, but it got overrun by degenerate paedophiles who were spamming loli/shota shit.

Image boards are conducive to some of the most oddly enlightening, morbidly fascinating, and downright hilarious shit I've seen online. I say that in the same breath that I mention how downright appalling most of their content actually is (in aggregate).

The problem with image boards is that uncontrollable spam and bad actors are horrendously difficult to mitigate due to their fundamentally open posting nature. Not to mention that there are tons of people who are simply degenerates with no one IRL who'd want to stomach their lunacy.

I'm sorry man, but people who post predominantly on image boards are fucking weird.

If there ever was, then it would be taken down just like 8chan. I've been convinced for years that 4chan had the right "connections" thanks to Hiroshimoot (at one point associated with Japan's long-time ruling party) and all the glowies doing ops/"research" there to avoid getting shuttered, and Kiwifarms being chased from host to host back in September was just more proof.

I mean think of it, how many murderers and mass shooters have openly posted on 4chan? How many times has /pol/ been called one of the most evil places on the internet? How much CP is posted there daily? 4chan's been around so long it's probably the single most notorious "bad people website" on the internet. But somehow, Cloudflare won't drop 4chan but sure will drop 8chan and Kiwifarms over far less.

ummmm ACKtually that's a chudjack. The face comes from the el paso shooter and it's honestly funny in some situations, like this image you posted. I agree with all of you that it gets spammed way too much, there are times where you just want to have a normal discussion and some faggot quotes you with a soyjack and it's game over.

It was always trash but it used to be any time 24/7 you'd check in there would at least be something funny, disgusting, retarded, or at least mildly interesting. I've probably looked at it a half dozen times in the past five years and literally nothing of interest was there at all.

That's the point. If you want a good anonymous imageboard you nee to gatekeep & the most reliable way to shoo away the dregs is to flood them with drawings of cake. "Oddly enlightening, morbidly fascinating, and downright hilarious shit" doesn't get posted when you have to softball pearl-clutchers & normalfags. @Null is both of these things so he could never hang as an imageboard owner. tl;dr you were gatekept

It's shit like this that pretty much makes me dismiss people just like when they use terms like "Goyslop" or put triple parenthesis around words (unless they're ironic to the point where there's virtually zero room for interpretation, even then it's iffy.) The latter was kind of amusing for a week when most people didn't have any idea what it meant and it got around censors pretty well, the former was amusing the first few times that I saw it until I saw retards referring to everything as goyslop; I'm sure I'll eventually see someone refer to drinking water as "drinking goyjuice." It's not like I even hold views that are much different on a lot of things, but when I see that stuff I can almost be sure that the poster is annoying as fuck and should have had more parental supervision as a child along with more bullying at school.

I don't know if it's really just gotten worse or if I'm finally fed up with it, but the unending contrarianism exhausts me. You like to have fast food once in awhile? "Goooooyyyyyslooooooop!" Enjoy literally anything that wouldn't be shown in a "sigma male" meme compilation? "CONSOOMER!" Have a functioning relationship with a member of the opposite sex who isn't a relative? "Normie degenerate/go back to Reddit."
