Those were rare occasions. Most of the time he was renting motel rooms or crashing with suckers who took pity on him. And even when he wasn't he would crash at shelters whenever he could. If you added up all the times where he was legit sleeping under bridges or on park benches, it wouldn't be more than two months at most. The rest of the time it was motels, shelters, and on the couches of suckers he conned.

As far as Phil being smarter than CWC? Nah, not really. Phil may have more street smarts and a little more mature mentally (like Phil being an edgy twelve year old vs. Chris being eight or nine), but they're both about the same in terms of actual intelligence. Which is to say, they're equally stupid.

He’s good at parroting with confidence, and so can give the superficial appearance of intelligence. That’s why his political rambling is limited to spheres like Tumblr, where there’s no real interaction - if you actually try to discuss the issues, or ask him a question he hasn’t prepared an answer for, it quickly becomes obvious that he doesn’t really understand the issues and he’s just piggybacking on someone else’s thoughts.

Nah, I don't think so. They're both idiots, Phil just comes out looking slightly less dumb because he feigns being into "adult" things like politics whereas Chris is a goofy manchild who is obsessed with Sonic, MLP and the like. The only thing where he does have Chris beat is that Phil has gamed the system to get his own tard housing, though even then I suspect he had help and couldn't do it again if he were on his own. Chris still lives at home with his mother, and despite Marvin's claims, I'm not so sure he could ever live on his own. At one point Phil did have a circle of friends, or at least people who tolerated his presence, but he seems to have burnt those bridges pretty quickly.

The one thing I will say is that at least I don't think Phil actually believes in his imaginary country, it's just roleplaying for him, whereas Chris has gone all out in believing in imagination land, so at best we can say Chris and Phil are just two different kinds of stupid, though no matter how you slice it Chris still comes off as more likable and sympathetic than Phil. He even puts effort into passing as a woman, albeit a 70 year old bag lady, but at least a woman.

The reporter then asked the question we all want to ask the tankie troons, i.e. what makes you think Maoist China is this troon paradise? In particular, he seems to have a lot of trouble processing anything he reads. It's like he looks at words, but can't really understand them, and I get the impression he just gives up after a while. Hence why he can't speak Spanish, despite a wealth of free resources that could teach him if he wanted, or how he doesn't understand anything to do with bicycles, China, Communism, Liberalism, LGBTQ issues, or anything else he claims to be passionate about.

The funny part is he things other people are as stupid as he is, hence him constantly being surprised that KF doesn't fall for his lies.

Phil is... odd. He does feel shame or embarassment, in fact it's one of the few things he actually seems to react to. It doesn't have as much to do with political bias as it does ratings. Right or left, weird people just offer more entertainment value. Phil is hilarious, and yes he did make Occupy look worse, so there is some value for conservatives. In fact, I've often joked that Phil is basically a walking right wing parody of everything that's wrong with the left in America.

Nonetheless, I'm still pretty amazed at how the lolcows manage to get so much media attention. Chris has made a lot of TV news appearances too, though once again, Chris is better than Phil. Heh. Phil tends to take a very black and white view of things; he believes every white person must be cishet, straight, Christian, rich, etc, and conversely, everyone on the LGBTQ spectrum also must be brown, poor, Communist, unclean. It's a very dualistic view of the world.

Phil is hardly alone in this. A LOT of lefties try to mash Communism into social justice, often saying Stalin, Mao, Tito, Castro, Pol Pot and other Communist dictators didn't represent "true" Communism. Phil just tends to be extremely autistic and ridiculous about it all. Everyone who is gay in his mind must also be Communist and therefore into bicycles and also be Chinese/Israeli/Japanese/Mexican/Puerto Rican/Palestinian/Native American too. He doesn't understand that not everyone is into the same crap.

They also tend to try and claim non-Western cultures all are enlightened and tolerant and have many genders, often by citing something relatively obscure or very culturally specific, like the hijra in India or the Albanian virgins. The truth is, Chinese culture is pretty conservative. So is Mexican culture. So is Arab culture. And Russian culture. Phil would likely get his ass kicked, or at the very least be shunned and mocked, if he lived anywhere but the US or Western Europe. A few places he might even get killed.
