Phil gets stumped over everything.
In particular, he seems to have a lot of trouble processing anything he reads. It's like he looks at words, but can't really understand them, and I get the impression he just gives up after a while. Hence why he can't speak Spanish, despite a wealth of free resources that could teach him if he wanted, or how he doesn't understand anything to do with bicycles, China, Communism, Liberalism, LGBTQ issues, or anything else he claims to be passionate about.
The funny part is he things other people are as stupid as he is, hence him constantly being surprised that KF doesn't fall for his lies.
There's sometimes I wish Phil would post his political nonsense to Facebook just to watch as people smarter than him shatter his prevention of reality and ethics.
They wouldn't, unfortunately. The SJW types that still sort of orbit Phil on FB are too forgiving and would mostly rather ignore Phil anyway. Besides, Phil is surprisingly good at ignoring anything that upsets him. What would be REALLY funny would be seeing Phil get confronted by so-called "hurtful truths" from other SJWs. Most likely he'd rant about "social embargoes" or "Kiwi lies," then draw maps of Australatina until he calmed down and forgot.
Besides, I don't think Phil can feel embarrassment. Rainbow Jesus could have bonked him on the nose and said "fuck off, sped, you're making us all look ridiculous" and Phil would have just waddled away thinking the heteronormative axis of oppression had screwed him again.
Phil is... odd. He does feel shame or embarassment, in fact it's one of the few things he actually seems to react to. I mean, its weird because here we have a man who waddles around taking pride in the fact that he didn't wipe his ass (because "capitalism"), pretending to be homeless or get his penis chopped off, dressing like a bondage walrus and bragging about killing Jews in his imaginary country. Most of us would be embarrassed by this shit. But no, Phil gets off on it. What he IS embarrassed by is anything he thinks makes him look less "cool" or adult. His hideous buck teeth are one example, as is the fact that he's still into anime. Not, you know, begging for money or having his own feces caked on his fingernails.
I think Rainbow Jesus bothered him, mostly because the guy talked over him while he was getting interviewed and made Phil look like an even bigger idiot. Another person was being treated like an adult, and Phil was forced to sit in back like the special ed kid he is. It also kind of revealed that Phil doesn't know anything about Communism or Maoism. Granted we already knew that but still.
I think it was on Fox? Certainly not a news organization that was sympathetic to the protest’s aims. I get the distinct impression that the reporter zeroed in on the dopey-looking cosplayer knowing that he’d give them the story they wanted.
It doesn't have as much to do with political bias as it does ratings. Right or left, weird people just offer more entertainment value. Phil is hilarious, and yes he did make Occupy look worse, so there is some value for conservatives. In fact, I've often joked that Phil is basically a walking right wing parody of everything that's wrong with the left in America.
Nonetheless, I'm still pretty amazed at how the lolcows manage to get so much media attention. Chris has made a lot of TV news appearances too, though once again, Chris is better than Phil. He comes across as a weird but sympathetic kid. Phil looks like someone who would need to be escorted out of a mall for creeping on people in the bathroom...
