Since there's a huge ad sign next to Rapa one could always pay to have it say whatever they want. Such as Thomas's story about the little girl and a link to one of the various Youtube videos.
Tommy's Day Care, Dog Grooming, and Gem Emporium. Come by and buy fake gems, bring your dog for me to fuck, and risk having me molest your child

Sounds like a great advertisement

No matter what the future may hold that will always be my favorite bit of VA.

Pretty sure you can't grow produce on the lawn of a rent to own. Yard, sure, maybe. But the lawn? Tom seems to have forgotten that communities aren't huge fans of people that let vagrants camp on their property, take unwanted pictures of children and lower a property value to grow edible weeds.
Some places wont even allow you to have garden in the backyard.

Also, I doubt Thomas can afford $750 a month and the owner would look into what he's making, if he's working, and where he used to live. People who sell rent to owns aren't stupid
Place in question
Seems you can grow food in your front lawn there. Can't imagine it'll help with your property value though,

No the homeowner's association would can him from doing that. Anyone having him renting that property would also kick him out. He would have to keep that yard up as well or the homeowner's association would kick his ass too. Thomas cannot afford that place either because it either doesn't exist (he only linked a picture) or it actually costs money that Thomas doesn't have. If he didn't waste any of his inheritance money, he might have had a good down payment. But he would also have to pay for repairs, utilities, electricity, property tax, and pay someone to keep it clean because there would be his shit everywhere.

If Thomas had invested his entire 100k inheritance in the market, he would make 2k a year and that is being generous. But he wouldn't have that money at all to invest if he made a down payment. If he did a rent to own, then he is losing money on paying the rent/mortgage which would take forever. In the meantime, Thomas' return on his money is going down because he is paying more in rent than any return on investments. And despite the fact that Tommy's food bill is so low due to him eating out of the trash can all the time, he would still waste money buying fake rocks that he can't sell.

Moral of the story, don't spend 40 years not having a job. You will claim to run a successful business while not being able to afford cheap housing

SHHHHHHHHHH!

Tom vs the HOA is exactly the arc I want to see.

We've seen it. Lot's of poop and then he gets shuffled off to a different shit-hovel.
Yeah but now he might not get it due to his bank account. That would be fun to see him kicked out of Section 8 housing because of the money he keeps losing

That's probably why he's hoping Edward Jones will buy it and he can pay them.
Financial institutions are not in the business of investing in obvious losses. They will not get 30 cents on the dollar if they invest with Thomas after 3 months of his constant shitting around the house. Lost cause Tom

That is if the area has an HOA. Though the area is nice so it may.

For those who don't know, HOA's will walk up to your lawn and measure your grass to see if it's too long and fine you. You also don't own the house despite paying to own it. The HOA owns it. You're paying for the ability to stay there.
