16 And Pregnant is a MTV television show that began in 2009, ended in 2014, and gave a lot of young pregnant teens and their (mostly) teen fathers publicity. Only a few have really managed to spin their life around, and provide a healthier lifestyle for their children, including the ones that had later on in life. Out of those few, most of them were the ones who came out of middle/upper middle class households.
Not as a shock to anyone, I encountered pregnant teenagers back in school; the girl who sat next to me at my high school graduation had given birth to her baby less than a month before. Statistically, I’m probably not the only one.
I have a curiosity to trash TV as I would imagine a lot of the women in here do, and watching teenagers and young women handle something as life changing and stressful as having a baby is interesting for myself to watch.
There aren’t very many spaces online to talk about this, other than going to Facebook or Reddit, which both love to morally clutch their pearls, and also try to interact with cows hands on. I would link YouTube videos to try to give an idea on the women who I find most noteworthy and interesting from the show, but I couldn’t find much other than selectively curated MTV clip videos, and fat women sitting in front of their washing machine, to talk about how one woman is bad because she didn’t agree with a black football player on his political views.
And I’m not creating this thread just to talk about the television antics; both Jenelle Evans (Easton), from Teen Mom 2, and Amber Portwood (Teen Mom OG) had some of their craziest antics off show, because MTV pulled the two from the show. It’s truly a feat that you get pulled from the same channel that featured the Jersey Shore cast for years.
Here’s a brief guide to the recent antics of some of the noteworthy ones, in my opinion:
Farrah Abraham
Farrah was on season one of 16 and Pregnant, and on Teen Mom OG. She has one daughter, and has never married. Derek Underwood, her daughter’s father, passed away before their daughter was born. Farrah is known for Teen Mom, and also herself grasping for relevancy with her porn, flashlight, and podcasts. Her parents pressured her to keep her daughter, and told her to tell Derek that he was NOT her daughter’s father. I believe that he is the father, especially since Sophia (their daughter), looks so similar to him. This is Farrah and Derek together, before Sophia.
Farrah makes her recent politics known on her social media:
She’s recently gained publicity for putting in an application to run for the mayor of Austin, Texas. After being informed that the next election wouldn’t be until 2028, she revoked her application, submitted one for city council without being aware of what district she lived in, and stated that she is unaware of who her current council person is.

Deborah (Farrah’s mom), was frequently present in early Teen Mom seasons, before Farrah moved out of the house. Deborah divorced Farrah’s dad, wrote a book on her experience being Catfished, had bad plastic surgery done, and now works as a TSA agent, in Omaha, Nebraska.
Amber Portwood
Amber is also from the first season of 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom OG. She had a suspicious age gap with her daughter’s dad, Gary. Her 16 and Pregnant episode acknowledges that Gary was friends and went to school with her older brother, and that allegedly Gary began to hang around Amber when Amber’s brother was deployed in the military.
Amber has two children, her daughter Leah, and then a son named James. James is younger, and was the son of the only man that Amber actually married. They are now divorced, after Amber physically assaulted him, like she did with Gary and her second fiance. Gary’s physical assault was captured on Teen Mom OG multiple times. Amber has had nothing to do with Leah in years. Amber was one woman that MTV approached and asked her to be off of the show; Amber is still persistent to this day that MTV did not “fire her”.
Amber routinely hops onto TikTok live, and complains about how her career with MTV ended, and “attempting to” reach out to teenage Leah. Leah lives with her dad Gary, she has since she was a young toddler.
Leah acknowledges Kristina as her mother, who is Gary’s wife and the mother of his second daughter. Gary cheated on Kristina shortly before she became pregnant; they both acknowledged that it was an unplanned pregnancy. I’ve always felt like Kristina could do better, and it isn’t an unpopular opinion.
Catelynn and Tyler Baltierra
These two are both also from season one of 16 and Pregnant, and Teen Mom OG. They are the only couple out of every season and MTV spin off, that I am aware of, that have actually stayed together.
I have sympathy for the two of them, because they both had a difficult time making the responsible decision of giving up their first daughter for adoption.
That’s mostly where my sympathy ends.
The two of them also both came from white trash, poverty backgrounds in Michigan, and the only reason why their other 3 daughters haven’t experienced the same, is because of Teen Mom money. Fun fact: Tyler and Catelynn are step siblings. Tyler’s dad “Butch” and Catelynn’s mother, April, are still together. To Tyler and Catelynn’s credit, they were dating a few years before their parents married. Butch has been in and out of prison. April looks rough because of drug use. Catelynn was already responsible as a teenager for taking care of her younger brother, Nicholas. Carrying on in her mother’s footsteps, Catelynn chainsmoked during all 5 of her pregnancies, with one resulting in a miscarriage. Catelynn and Tyler have both taken separation break from each other, multiple times.
Tyler has an OF, because neither one of the two can be asked to work an actual job after Teen Mom ended, and the two have gone into debt. You are missing absolutely nothing by not being subscribed to Tyler’s OF.
I don’t think that the Halloween one was actually an OF picture, but that Superman costume is…unfortunately very tight fitting. Tyler making condescending remarks towards Catelynn’s weight, who has always been overweight since her teenage years, is probably the reason why she doesn’t make content with Tyler for his OF.
Tyler and Catelynn’s insistence on wanting to post Carly, the daughter who they gave up for adoption, on their social media, is probably why their open adoption with Carly’s adopted parents end. Carly’s adopted parents complain that they didn’t want her associated with Farrah and her porn career. Tyler and Catelynn both publically criticized Farrah for doing porn, long before Tyler set up his own OF.
Nevertheless, the two continue to make themselves out as the victims against Carly’s parents, and lament about their no contact with her on their social media.
I was also motivated to create this thread because we have a crossing of the streams with LolCows who I follow; Catelynn’s brother Nicholas appeared on LolCow Bus with our own Amberlynn Reid:

I admittedly have less experience with the non-OG cast members. However, Jenelle is the messiest teen mom so far, and certainly deserves a spot here.
Reddit has complied collages and lists of her medical complaints, arrests, mugshots, and her own list of “accomplishments”.
Jenelle was on season 2 of 16 and Pregnant, and on Teen Mom 2, until, similar to Amber, she was asked to leave by MTV.
Jenelle was pregnant at 16, and Andrew, Jace’s father, was 22 or 23. The two began to date when Andrew was 20.
Jenelle went on to have two more kids with two different dads, was strung out on heroin for a few episodes of Teen Mom 2, and defended her only husband so far, David Eason, when he would physically abuse herself and her oldest son, Jace. Jace ran away 3 different times back in 2023, to go and stay with Jenelle’s mother, Barbara. He now lives with her.
The two youngest children live with Jenelle, after Jenelle actually divorced David. Most people assume that they will get back together.
David was also asked to be let go by MTV, before Jenelle was, after shooting and killing their French bulldog in front of the children, because the dog lightly nipped at the youngest child, David’s biological daughter.
David has broken Jenelle’s clavicle at least once, and strangled Jace multiple times.
Jenelle’s mother hasn’t approved of David since the beginning, thinks that he’s the worst man that she’s been with, and shows it by purposely mispronouncing his name:
David has been kicked out of the shed that he was living in, at his new girlfriend’s place:
Jenelle subtly acknowledged that she has terrible taste in men:
Jenelle is well aware that she is the most frequently talked of Teen Mom. I’m only scratching the surface on here her.

I acknowledge that this trash reality TV, but their non-curated activities are so much more interesting.
For me, this is different than talking about what other reality show celebrities do, because a lot of them already came from money, were older when they were on television, and/or had brands of their own during or after the show. A lot of these women started from nothing, and because of their new money mindsets, ended with not much of anything.
