More history sperging: These individuals were found across many European courts from France to Russia, but I don't know that Chantal (as we know her in contemporary times) would have made it. These individuals were essentially exhibits in human zoos and were openly trotted out and mocked, often with no compensation. The ones that were taken care of were beholden to doing as told and not complaining about their treatment.

Now for me, Chantal reminds me of Princess Fatemeh Khanum.

Cause she's unfortunate looking? Apart from that, the only thing they have in common is having an abortion. But the princess had a few kids, plus a shitty husband she was forced to marry. She ended the pregnancy cause she could have died during childbirth. That was very common back then. Not so common was divorce, but the princess had actual reasons for going against societal norms beyond our gorls "I dew wut I whan"

It would be interesting to see where Chantal would end up had she been born 100 years ago. Or even today, but not in white trash Ontario.
