Cloudflare would have likely blocked it before enough requests anyway, and then I would need to break their captcha, or exhaust a massive supply of IP addresses, or make a botnet that forced people to break the captcha. It was never a realistic attack against a site protected by cloudflare in the first place, it required like a million requests even when I thought it would work, plus requests from a server in the same data center so easy as fuck to block it.

He says it's in pre-alpha. I imagine we'll see the full version by the time apes have retaken the earth.

I decided I want to make it into a simple P2P style network though (or at least a distributed semi-decentralized file store, that is more suited for decentralization/distribution of content, though it already will work for that with manual configuration and out of band, I'd rather remove the out of band .onion discovery requirement and need for manual input of onion server addresses) so then I will need to expand on it. I definitely want to avoid a GUI though because that is just needless attack surface, but perhaps I will implement something in ncurses for it so people who are afraid of command line will use it.

In the end it should reduce application layer attack surface by several orders of magnitude on both the client and server ends. It's currently under 2,000 lines of code for the client and the server, as compared to over 15 million lines of code for firefox, and who knows how the fuck many lines of code for a web server + php interpreter + php scripts + database back end.

I also hope to make it well suited for an air gap strategy, in furtherance of promoting additional reductions to application layer attack surface area. I think I will accomplish this by having (from NACL) a public ECC key and private ECC key, with the private key symmetrically encrypted and stored on a machine isolated with an air gap, and then the public ECC key sent with file download requests, such that only encrypted files are received, and then decrypted on the machine isolated with the air gap, but I will design it with this strategy in mind. I've decided also to include random (yet fairly little) padding on files downloaded, to frustrate traffic classifiers.

It also has the added benefit of improving the network topology to a more resilient one, and of removing the socialization aspect that some people are getting themselves fucked with. You don't need to socialize to download literature banned by the Chinese government, and when people socialize on Chinese Dissident websites the Chinese Police use their socialization to deanonymize them.

Well my code already works for sharing files, it's just not audited yet nor is it very efficient on the server end. Feel free to compile it and play with it though, it's working perfectly fine already for hosting and downloading files, I just wouldn't yet put much faith in the security of it, nor is it complete.
