The story I know of is when Jaha confronted him at EVO 2002.
Phil was playing a money match against ShadyK in MvC2. It was a first to 10 set for $100 or $200, something like that. Phil loses the first game, and then the tournament organizer says they have to stop because the tournament was behind schedule.
Jaha chased down and confronted Phil shortly after, asking what's up with all the shit talking he'd been doing online, etc. During the confrontation, Jaha demanded that he pay ShadyK $10 or $20 for the one match he lost, and of course Phil cowered and immediately gave him the money and ran away. Jaha later admitted that demanding the money for a partial set was bullshit, and he basically said he just did it to intimidate Phil for all of the shit talking he used to do online.
There may have been another incident between them, but I can't remember.
So, to directly answer your question it was MvC2, but it really didn't have much to do with the game so much as it had to do with Jaha confronting Phil 'IRL' for being and internet tough guy.
Sorry if this answer was a bit long, but I always enjoy sharing some lore on how big a bitch Phil is when he's in any sort of confrontation in real life.
I remember Jaha saying he was known to not pay out for money matches and run out on them at evo or something without paying then shit talking online.

Also it was dsp and a friend and they both started to cry the way Jaha tells it. I think Chris Wong even talks about it the same way.

Just sounds likes DSP was selling wolf tickets, got pulled up on it and then started to cry when he had to face consequences of his own action.

This will forever be DSP legacy to me.

You know what, I'll give Phil this one. He actually, genuinely, did play a lot of and seem to enjoy MVC2 back in the day. If I'm not mistaken, he has said he was more of a MVC2 player than a Super Turbo player at heart. Given that is the era when Phil actually liked playing games, I'm going to go ahead and say that him trying to jump on a bandwagon to get a game re released that is probably in licensing hell right now is a noble cause and one he has the right to pursue.

That said, what would happen if Phil got his wish and there was a re release of MVC2 with online play and everything? "Lazy devs just threw it in an emulator and didn't make online that works" "Lag" "That doesn't work offline" "Shitty rollback netcode" etc.

The best part about this whole thing was that Phil apparently had an entourage. Even back then, Phil had attracted the stupid.

Valedictorian, smartest in his class, cultured, worldly, streetsmart Phillip Burnell here in what seems to be varying states of awe, wonder and complete bemusement at the concept of a globe on his Flight Sim stream the other day.

Geography not his strongest suit.

My favorite part is about the "bills" he has to pay. He pays 1 mortgage for a house thats 300k at most right now (at 3.92% interest rate, his monthly payment would be 1,418, his property tax is about 0.93%, his electricity bill is around 80 a month, 2 cell phone bills would be around 250 a month, and generously putting gas and groceries at 500. He took in over 11k in July and Kat works too. Where the fuck is the rest of that money going? Its not like he has a savings account or a retirement
I'm calling a heart attack before Timmy hits his 3rd bankruptcy.
Wait, how many oopsie no monies! Do you get?!

"If you filed a Chapter 13 and want to file another Chapter 13, the time period is two years from when you last filed. And, if you filed a Chapter 13 and want to file a Chapter 7 the time period is six years from when you filed."

Apparently as many times as they let you. They could simply just throw your second case out though it seems. Although I'm no law-talking guy.

I don't know much about Jaha other than him working out, being a marine and wanting to kick DSP ass.

Apparently Jaha and Mike Watson (whoever that is), wanted to beat DSP ass in a parking lot. Probably would have too until Viscant (whoever that is) jumped in.

I doubt he is gonna get a second oopsie no monies considering his massive amounts of income. I also think he will never qualify for any credit cards or loans after what midfirst bank is about to do to him with the Connecticut condo

Don't have to imagine he can play that shit anytime he wants since he owns it on the 360. I guess it was pulled down from the xbox/ps stores but if you already own it you're good to go.

yes, this is one of the events i am talking about when I say that Phil has never faced any consequences in his life because every time he is about too, some "good Samaritan" steps in and goes "no, come on guys. don't pick on the retard"

You have to wonder if being beaten by a jacked Asian marine would of set him on path of owing up and stop talking shit or would it have only added to his hate of Asians.

They're talking about Timboslice and his two bankruptcies.

Viscant (whoever that is) jumped in.
Viscant is another Marvel player (who actually won MvC3 at EVO) that Phil has history with.
He challenged Phil to a money match at EVO, and Phil responded by suggesting they fight IRL (yes, really, a FITE ME IRL).
Viscant, who actually had some amount of fighting experience (boxing or martial arts idk), accepted and was dead serious about beating the shit out of Phil. Phil would posture as if he was going to go through with the fight for some time, even suggesting that they sign documents to prevent legal action if someone got hurt.
At some point Phil realized how serious Viscant was, and of course was scared shitless. Phil would ask Viscant to pretend that they were going to fight, but instead do DX crotch chops. Viscant told Phil how fucking stupid his idea was and declined.
Viscant eventually dropped the whole thing once he realized how scared Phil was of an actual fight.
Yet another example of Phil talking tough online, then showing what a true little bitch he is in real life.

I can't help but wonder if we would have gotten a different, more sane DSP if Jaha had just been allowed to give him the beating his father should have given him.
