I think part of it may be due to the pressure on him to win by his audience. I mean, seriously, every time he loses his stans go ballistic on Twitter. A good example would be when Hbomb [I think] used a glitch in Hole in the Wall and Dream lost, the stans went on to harass Hbomb. But when Dream won last MCC and Sapnap [who was on his team] used the same glitch, none of the stans complained. Funny how that works.

I’m just gonna give a little context to this: Hbomb used this glitch over 15+ times to win HITW, even at times abusing it to pass easy walls. Sapnap also used this purposefully, but it’s slightly different as he only did it 2 times during the final walls.

But IMO, the hate Hbomb got was undeserved, as every MCC player in the past has used it. It should’ve been a criticism to the MCC developing team more so.
