I commented that the move and ongoing care will fall to one of her siblings. I believe it will either be newly found adopted brother, or the recently paroled brother (Tony?). Recently paroled makes more sense as holding down a job in an open employment market could prove very difficult for him given his past incarcerations. Whoever it ends up being will required actual pay for this very tough job. Her needs now required a much higher level of payment than a few cheap graphic tees and some snapbacks.

Why would any one think brothers, much less convicted felon jail bird brothers would be interested in taking care of a 600 lb estranged sister? The best chance Amber has is her aunt or meth mom. Care taking is not a job that white trash men do.

Amber can’t legally employ her brother as a home health aide ffs. She can’t even figure out how to ship via the USPS you think she can set up an LLC, insurance and payroll to legally employ her brother? This is even if he needs to bother with a legal job for his parole officer.

I’m betting he will just continue to live as a shady meth head doing petty crimes and take on irregular roofing or landscaping jobs if he needs something on paper for his parole requirements.

For Amber to get one of her trashy (female) relatives paid as a home health care aide she will have to go broke and qualify for Medicaid. She’s too broke, and cheap, to pay someone out of pocket to wipe her ass. Only once she’s run out of money and YT income will the govt step in and use tax dollars to pay an in-home ass wiper for big Al.

I figure until she gets to point of qualifying for Medicaid she will just try to rope in meth mom by letting her live rent free with her or maybe use pure pity to get her Aunt’s help. It will be a difficult situation for Amber because she will have to realize she can’t survive at her size on her ever dwindling YT income and make a conscious decision to go broke so that she can get on welfare. (I’d expect her to try and use her mom’s or some shady friends SS# to try and hide her YT income. However, I think that’s what she did for several years and it ended up biting her in the ass and why she now has back taxes owed, so that might not be an option.)

Amber should at least get Becky’s family to teach her the white trash ways of grifting medicaid, SSI and HUD in order to survive without ever working.

Paying for a crash course in white trash welfare grifting would be a better investment for Hamber than community college because it’s how she’s going to survive for the rest of her life. Amber will live like Tammy Slaton did before the TV show.

I’m sure she is working hard on her SSI appeal. In fact, when the break up was announced I actually assumed she might have just gotten notification she was approved for SSI. I figured Amber was a convenient way to live until she got approved for govt gibs.

All the ridiculous health problems and DX she added to the pile living with Amber were the basic white trash laundry list for an SSI application. “IBS, restless leg syndrome” are shit they like to use to fatten up an SSI application.

About a year and half ago, before her mom died, Becky was suddenly going to a lot of doctor’s appointments. She obviously got on Medicaid and was now using it to collect Dx to create the paperwork to apply for SSI. Becky’s kinfolk are well versed at milking the system for gibs and Beck was just following their well trod path. It’s a long standing tradition in Becky’s social circle too. I think it’s how half the fat lesbians she knows live (def Rafe and her GF, and the non-employed member of the gaycare is probably on it or trying to get on it.)

Lot's of choice cuts there, but one moment that stuck out was when Big Al was talking about how she was meaning to walk to the mailbox and back once a day but never did. Becky suggested she can start anytime and Hamber incredulously yelled 'after everything i've done this week?!'. As if walking to the mailbox one a day was such a herculean task. I can't imagine she had done so much that week that made her too tired to walk to her mailbox and back. Doomed.

They really must prove that they are disabled in such a manner that they cannot work more then X amount of hours (and one form of it does require a person to work) and SSDI I think doesn't require a person to work, but they have to prove they are truly disabled. These requirements are much, MUCH more restrictive then regular welfare, and they will check up on a person about every 6 months, and every so often the person will have submit forms and proof showing that they are still disabled. Any mistakes and one can lose their benefits, even for the most bullshit of reasons. A person is only allowed so much additional extra or alternative income or the disability payout drops. And they don't tend to pay much either.

On the SSI work requirement: You are 100% right. There is a SSDI that comes with a work/volunteer requirement, and DRS/DHS are DRACONIAN about sticking to the rules. On this form, the person may require tard services (Employment Specialist through a mental health agency) to assist them with job finding, retention, and disclosure of physical, mental, or addiction disabilities to the employer. This is done to fulfill ADA and provide reasonable supports for the employee. This can take different forms:

* An extra 10 minute break to combat fatigue
* A job that is non customer facing
* Certain schedule or a fixed schedule
* DRS/DHS pays for Employment Specialist to provide job development/retention on site or state pays for classes for client

You do not have to be a bona fide tard. These services are used by people with college degrees. People who have addiction issues, domestic violence trauma, felonies, severe physical disabilities including arthritis, tardation, and specified learning disabilities. So it's possible for NoNecky to still get a job and keep a job with state assisted supports in place, but the rest is entirely on her.
