You'll notice that in the info for the Der Langrisser translation patch on Romhacking.net, it mentions "Byuu and D-Boy", and the "D" link goes to Derrick's profile, which is separate from Near's.

They worked together and had similar skillsets, and even look kind of similar, but don't appear to be the same individual.
