Byuu was actually pretty smart in that he was too paranoid to ever use his real name anywhere online, before he ever meaningfully became a figure of scorn.
If he was concerned about harassment, he could have just stopped using the usernames associated with his account. Although that would mean his internet fame for making an emulator couldn't stay with him (but then it was said internet fame that was a problem).
