It's not so much giving him the attention he craves that's a problem, if the dude gets off on some deranged internet strangers saying his name, good for him. It's more so in my opinion that he's a boring person and the commentary surrounding him his very repetitive. Giving Phil money doesn't make him an interesting person in the scope of the DSPsphere unfortunately.
Also people frequently quote his comments but he's a consistant liar and I'd sooner trust DSP with my finances than anything OIC says.

Surviving on the generosity of whales is an unsustainable business model, his entire livelihood is being funded by a very small group of people that a moments notice could choose to stop at the flick of a switch.

I disagree. I think it's been on a steep decline at minimum since Machinima dropped him, which was over four years ago.
He's been surviving, but every year brings diminishing returns. There is no reason for him to fully stop until he is actually banned from the platforms entirely.
He's still technically making $100K/year, even with only 3-4 whales. He has much further to drop. I think it's more likely we'll see him move before we see him stop streaming. Eventually DSP will have no other choice but to take all the equity that he lucked into with the WA condo and sell it.

Phil doesn't look beyond his weekly schedule and all money he gets is spent immediatly, nonetheless he manages a comfy existance in his condo and has done for the past few years riding soley off whales. Hell, these past few months were his most profitable. It is absolutely an unsustainable house of cards that will collapse eventually but Phil's luck manages to keep him riding that wave for longer than should be feasbily be possible but it's always going to be a matter of when rather than if.

If you're waiting for DSP to alert you that the ship is sinking you're going to be one of the last people to know about it. DSP is in deep denial about the downward spiral his career is taking and it shows any time anyone brings up how slow his chat is or how few viewers are watching. DSP can't even begin to realize his streaming career is over, his mind wouldn't let him accept it.

I'd like to pose a question to the DSP experts of this esteemed body. Is there any way at all that DSP can parlay his current situation into a sustainable business model? Hypothetically, say he unlearns years of pigroach habits overnight, starts engaging with his chat, and gains the work ethic of a normal person. Would even that save him, or is his reputation too irrevocably fucked for even the most drastic of changes to save him?

Not gonna go get exact quotes but his retarded take paraphrased was in response to a chatter -

I don't know about profit margins but in 2020 YT revenue accounted for 10% of Google's revenue. It's a major part of Google now, not some small off-shoot with infinite Google money to throw around like Dave would like to have you believe.
I rarely use "disagree" but Phil has very little to talk about because he literally has no life. Weather has been a huge part of his pre-schtream stalling for years now. He knew this was coming and he just defers to victimhood evéry single opportunity he gets.

Its optimistic as balls, but yes, I think DSP is finally hitting the beginning of the end. Or I guess to follow with my WW2 spergery. The end of the beginning. The untenable seems to finally be running out of luck. Because, I think without gifted subs, he is actually in trouble. I fully subscribe to the concept that he uses the check to pay bills, and tips to pay his demons. And even if he has his behind the scenes support on the former. I don't think he posseses the fortitude to use tips to actually pay bills until its high time and then he has to ramp up the begging.
And frankly, the gap he has to make between his bills money and raising tips is widening. He will stumble soon. And thats what I am excited for. It won't be soon. And it won't be big. But it will come in the form of him snapping because he actually couldn't go eat out one week.
