Maybe this'll be the left's version of the Capitol Riot, a total clusterfuck that'll finally turn public opinion completely against them. If they tear up shit with no cops to stop them, people will probably die in a way that's too public to get buried. It'd be even funnier if they somehow manage to exceed the kill count, which honestly wouldn't be difficult to do.
Of course if they're smart they'll just have a big old block party and that'll show the country that they're just peaceful protestors and the cops are the antagonists. Hell, they might be able to turn things around on the cops and make them look like the assholes for abandoning their posts and leaving the city to the dogs.
A part of me hopes it doesn't go that way, better to have this shit done with already clean in one big orgy of violence than have it bleed the city dry over years. Honestly I'm just sick of these libtard crackers fucking shit up for no reason, let Portland burn already so something better may be built upon it's ashes.

The chief reason the capitol riot turned public opinion was because the media went all in on using it to do so. The event was manipulated for that very purpose - several of the organizers of the actual intrusion into the building we now can reasonably surmise were Feds based on there being no prosecution against them despite people with far less evidence of wrongdoing against them being in solitary confinement. The police are on video letting protestors into the building and the person on camera urging people to set fire to things turned out to be a BLM speaker and CNN guest. There were out and out lies about a police officer being killed. (Actually died the next day of a stroke, texted brother after the day saying other than being briefly pepper-sprayed wasn't hurt). The DoJ self-admittedly lied about protestors having plans to kill senators in order to put them on no-fly lists to keep them in DC and then retracted it days later. Left-wing protestors occupied their capitol building for longer over Kavanaugh appointment and got favourable press.
I doubt this will get the same treatment by the press. Only way you'll get a moment like that which turns people against them are if powerful groups deem Antifa to no longer be useful or enough people no longer get their worldview from MSM.

Too lazy right now to look up what 4th degree misdemeanor assault constitutes, but i'll objectively say the cop was excessive and engaged in some degree of assault. In the initial impact to her head, I could see the argument that impacting the head was accidental, but she was already moving quickly and he felt the need to give her an extra hard push, which connected at the base of her skull. He strikes, she trips, falls, and then rolls over and is in a sitting position on the ground, and he gives her another unnecessary whack on the forehead for good measure.
I can see this as possibly being the result of what I'll call "chained dog syndrome." Cops are held back and forced to watch as shit gets destroyed, forced to endure while being assaulted with rocks and fireworks etc. This is understandably frustrating and rage-inducing to the cops. They got wound up, and then at some point their chain is released, and they end up acting excessively. This all again harkens back to the 1999 WTO protests and police response then, and I think there's a fair discussion to be had about whether it's a deliberate tactic on the part of those holding the cops' chains.

Honestly this sounds like a reasonable hypothesis. Being forced to watch that shit unable to do anything about it must be a good way to get someone madder and madder until they see fucking red and basically snap.
Shit, I'm surprised we never saw one cop unload a full mag into a crowd at this point given how absolutely lawless the fuckers were being.

- Kill each other at record rates "over an argument."
- Steal cars and drive headlong into opposing traffic, killing the negro and but his 12 year old passengers are unscathed.

- Park in front of residential homes and blast their ghetto music so your house shakes at 11pm.

As powerful as the media apparatus is, I doubt they can spin like say 20 deaths directly caused by a bunch of mad rioters pulling a Clockwork Orange on a city without riot cops to clear them out. I'd imagine most of those would be either rioters getting shot by angry shop owners or said shop owners getting lynched by the mob, resulting in even more casualties.
Of course that's the worst case scenario, most likely it'd be a handful of people getting killed by mostly motorists. Maybe a couple of guys get shot over gangbanger shit, but stuff like that is easily swept under the rug. So yeah, you're probably right, it won't change shit unless there's a real high kill count.

It's less a kill or be killed situation and more a case people just seem to suddenly view everything as RIGHT or LEFT and "HOW DOES THIS TIE TO POLITICS?" whenever they look at anything. You end up with both sides pretty much acting the same in different ways with the same culty behaviors but different boogeymen. The currently most vocal side right now of the culty fuckers on the media supported side keep framing anyone not marching lockstep with the current social trends as monsters and then you have on the other side of the coin with the Q guys where it's mostly them just squatting around spooking themselves about politicians and sitting on their ass doing nothing while going "trust the plan it'll all work out in the end guys!". They end up like being framed as the unhinged and dangerous side by media types, and yeah they're unhinged to a degree but aside from that capitol entry situation thing that turned out to be partly a mix of people just fucking around or actual bastards pretending to be Q followers to make the guys look even more unhinged you literally see them doing nothing aside from being kinda sad and obnoxious online. Then of course you got the third faction of actual neo nazis and whte supremacists which are their own bag of worms that through all this fearmongering about shit have more or less been just completely ignored unless people with the politics-brain infection try and lump people in with them. This factor of the whole situation is what got me thinking about it being a case where they're essentially to a degree attempting to create their own enemy so they can be justified with "defeating" them by suppressing more shit. Kinda a weird feedback loop type of situation more or less where nothing of value is actually being done. Shit feels like a more elaborate multifaceted "[THING HERE] IS SATANIC ACTUALLY" shit that used to crop up around some culty right leaning politics types where they just sat there and fear mongered towards people about how pokemon or barcodes are totally gonna indoctrinate their kids into devil worship or some other wacky nonsense. Instead of that it's now just the opposite political leaning boogeyman instead of satan.

I'm kind of surprised that they haven't started to go after the Antifa types using their tactics. They certainly don't care about the PR aspect too much, and they'd love to see George Floyd Square as a land to conquer and reclaim for their needs like Jerusalem in The Crusades (but then again, you have people in this thread who talk about places like Portland as not worth fighting for and seeing it as a "let it all burn. Wait to see what rises from the ashes." as the reason why Antifa hasn't seen much street resistance from things like gun toters or Roof Koreans in fortified left wing hotspots.
And people thought that COVID could test the limits of that, and then we got things like rent forgiveness to stop evictions.

Given the places and the mayors and city councils of the cities that were hit the hardest by the height of the activities of BLM and Antifa...wouldn't put it past them.
If they're not allowed to use tear gas, what makes you think they'd be able to use live rounds? I'm just surprised we haven't seen things like private security services see new hires skyrocket using pitches like "we'll let you use tear gas and bullets!" or individual groups that are talked about as boogeymen actually come out for a scrap. I mean, tons of people say cops go too far, and I think it's only a matter of time people take matters into their own hands because they feel cops don't go far enough.
