China's psyching itself up for an invasion.
There's always a risk with countries with authoritarian governments that feel the need to talk tough and look tough to the world.
It's called "buying into your own press" or "smoking your own stash."
It happens when your military and government advisors tell you what you want to hear and what they've been taught, mainly to reinforce your tough guy talk.
Then, you start thinking all your shit talking is real, convinced that everyone else was wrong and you're right.
You see this all the time.
Well, China's trying to psych themselves up for war. I doubt they intended to actually get into a shooting war, but the government has probably been assured over and over nothing can go wrong.
The politicians start thinking that war can bring about their political and socio-economic desires.
The military starts believing their own press and start believing the government propaganda, all the way to thinking that they're invincible.
Problems start being handwaved away.
It's REALLY easy to do that with America, because the press and media are tailored for Bug Men. It's easy to hand-wave away just how easily the nation can be defended. It's really easy to forget that not all the nation is Bug Men who would give Xi sloppy ass to mouth for another Funco pop.
Saddam thought he could win the second Gulf War, so he refused to allow in the inspectors, even knowing that the same military that pushed his shit in in 100 hours was at the border again, because he bought into his own press.
If China DOES invade mainland US or even Alaska, they'll be in for a world of hurt. The Russians knew it, the Japanese knew it.
The problem is, China really does view itself as more clever, more ruthless, smarter, and better than everyone else and too many of them view Chinese dominance as fact just because they want it to be.
Guess we'll see.
