The Bachelorette Australia casts Brooke Blurton, the franchise's first pansexual lead

The Bachelorette AU today announced that they have cast Brooke Blurton as their new Bachelorette. Blurton, who identifies as pansexual, will have both male and female suitors during her season, which is the first for the franchise. Blurton is also the franchise's first Indigenous woman as the lead.

"I've done it twice before and now, having the opportunity to choose my person and who I want in my life, is a truly unique and special experience," she said.

"I'm so excited and hope that I finally find that person I've been waiting for."

Blurton is no stranger to Australian screens, appearing on the 2018 season of the Bachelor, which starred former Australian rugby union international Nick Cummins and later on, Bachelor in Paradise.

During the 2018 season of the Bachelor, Blurton told Cummins she had previously been in two relationships with women.

She was a popular contestant and considered a strong chance to secure the 'Honey Badger's' heart, but abruptly quit the show towards the end of the season.

I m kinda dumb for it but I was thinking, I kinda see why theyre doing it because how many times can you go "Oh no, reality show about the struggles of dating" because most people know that--so it might be interesting to see how its different when shes down for whatever. So I was thinking, I have never actually watched an eligible bachelor(ette) show, I don't know how they're structured. I know at regular intervals they prune the lame-os but I don't know how they choose who to prune.

Someone more knowledgeable than me, tell me how this works? I imagine they shove the lead and their harem in a house together, then have them do fun vacation activities every day. The harem lusts for the lead because that's their job, and also generally the harem all being the same sex makes it less likely for them to be mutually attracted to eachother.

What's stopping these mixed sex contestants from pairing up with eachother in lieu of the lead? Have there been previous gay/lesbian bachelor/ette shows that have shown how to prevent the harem from fucking eachother? If the show is something like 1 lead, 4 male contestants, 4 female contestants, and everyone except the lead gets laid, I might actually want to watch this. Especially if it devolves into the lead harassing everyone else about how bigoted they are for refusing to start a polycule.
