Isreal offers us a valuable trading partner in the middle east and a proxy for pushing US interests in the region. Sure, we could do that with basically any other state, but that would require mending a lot of bridges and pissing off a state we have already invested so much into the creation of a military juggernaut.

Not only do we pay 38 billion to Israel, we also pay many billions to bribe the Egyptians to not be hostile to Israel.
