Unpopular Opinions about Video Games

Speaking of Mario, the New SMB games are just crap and not worth playing. I've read about how they were developed by a junior team at Nintendo and that's why their quality is lacking, but still, they're just bad games.

That being said, somehow it felt like there are tons of them and they come out all the time, when there were only like four and a half of them, and there hasn't been a full new one in nearly nine years.

I respect Dunkey as an entertainer and critic, but Mario is where he and I part ways.

It's political in the sense that they have to keep consooming Nintendo products as a form of protest against AAA excesses.

Besides you're actually allowed to beat games.

I never use vibration in games. My childhood PS2 somehow didn't have it in the console itself. The controllers vibrate on other PS2s. Find it very distracting.

Mario games are overrated.

EDIT: Seriously though, how come people haven't had enough of Stalin-looking plumber jumping on shit? This may sound like I don't know much about most of the games but I couldn't care enough to play them with all the Mario dickriders gatekeeping shit.
Problem with Mario is that there's a bad game for every good one, and a lot of what people remember of Mario is simply nostalgia. I would have said that 64 was an amazing game 10 years ago, but then I tried replaying it. For the time, it innovated, but people outside of the tranny speedrunning community don't seem to have revisited it since they were 6 in the 90s. I truly feel for the people that grew up playing New Super Mario Brothers that will die on that hill because of their nostalgia.

Someone will lynch me for this but... so its basically Sonic but slower?

Nah, it's much better on all fronts than Sonic, it's just that they release a lot of mediocre games, especially with the NSMB line. Sonic has far more bad than good, though.
fair enough

though the upside of sonic is theres less spergs who will lynch you for talking shit about their favorite franchise compared to mario, mario might as well be a consoomer cult

"Less" certainly, since true Sonic fans are autistic as fuck, but Sonic defenders are much more serious about it. Nintendo is just such a huge name that Mario is basically the Mickey Mouse of this generation since he's their main mascot. I've never gotten into an argument with someone over Mario like I've seen people sperg out over Sonic games.

I think that Sonic is a much better face for videogames than Mario, not because the games are better, I generally like Mario games more, but because the way SEGA celebrates the fans, the way the fans are such an integral part of the franchise, with the fan games and even the stupid interactions of the twitter and the people that work on the games at events, and the personality of the character himself just seem like a much better fit in my opinion than the extremely clean and corporate look Mario has

Sonic is Mario but faster.

Mario is more responsive, with a variety of power-ups that boost his mobility even further. If you watch tutorials on the SMW cape, it's amazing how versatile it is.

Mario levels are, traditionally, very basic. The koopas change, often to humorous effect, but the stages do not.

Sonic has several strikes against it. He can't control for shit. Most of his power-ups are shields. Every level has its own gimmick. As reviewers have pointed out, this can result in "a tiring lack of focus" later in the game.

The difficulty is pretty consistent throughout, because each stage is radically different, so there's nothing to master.
