It looks like he and his lawyer both missed his appearance for the Keeann assault yesterday and there is now an application for warrant hearing on May 6th. I wonder what is going on in YanivLand. Did his attorney dump him? Did JY get so preoccupied giving legal advise to his fellow citizens he forgot to go?

I'm guessing JY decided to dump his lawyer instead of pay him, and did the head in the sand thing yesterday and 'forgot' without his lawyer to remind him.

Gotta say, pleading not guilty and then no-showing your next court appointment is not a good look at ALL.

Many thanks, Plague Flea. Now, I can satisfy my morbid curiosity even further. That Brassard sounds like a real piece of work. Maybe docs like him figure Yaniv is less dangerous without a penis to wave around in women’s toilets?

I have a feeling that there's no plausible reason a doctor could have offered to refuse him the surgery that wouldn't immediately be dismissed as transphobic and recklessly denying someone a "life-saving" medical intervention.

As long as Yaniv was able to string words together in a semi-coherent fashion and wasn't comatose or similarly incapacitated, I'd guess the balance of power in deciding whether or not he received the surgery favored Yaniv. With this lax level of medical oversight, he probably could have pointed to a catalog of neo-pussies, grunted out something that sounded affirmative and have been accorded the surgery.

I thought Yaniv's lawyer was a public defender (whatever the Canuck version was) or something similar? Because I remember Kiwis posted the guy's name and he put out a statement amounting to how he only represents Yaniv in his criminal defense cases, does not agree with all of his client's views, and does it out of his belief that everyone needs a lawyer.

Or was that guy only Yaniv's attorney for the weapons charges/whatever other criminal charges he had back then?

A public defender NEVER dosen't show up at a hearing or trial, even if sick they would call in and judge would reschedule the hearing.

He would have turned up and stated that his client did not appear, and would probably have argued to give him time and set a new hearing date against Crown pushing for a warrant hearing. If no one at all turned up, that means JY dosen't have a lawyer anymore.

There is no way Jon qualifies for legal aid. It is tough to get in BC if you own anything and you have to bring in a mortgage statement and property assessment to see if you qualify. Legal aid is notoriously difficult to get unless you are truly indigent or charged with an serious crime.
