I don't think it's enjoyable to stream when your chat is unusable due to spam and you get harassed constantly. Especially since Streamers are kind of expected to interact with their chats

It's partly because of this bad logic that a lot of people like the ones on reddit believe:

If the Chinese were able to harass a vtuber under a huge company, imagine the effect of it on an indie. I just wish her the best. Hopefully, she'll overcome this!

This is a flawed line of reasoning that a lot of people seem to go towards when considering the effects of chink brigades. It caused a huge controversy for cover that took them weeks to dig themselves out of, so they must be able to totally destroy an independent vtuber.

What people seem to ignore is that the reason Cover had a problem with it to begin with was that they had a significant income stream coming from China, including 5 dedicated streamers and several JP streamers who pretty regularly streamed on bilibili, and as a result they were beholden to Chinese money. Chink shenanigans could and did hurt them in their wallet, and that's why telling them to blow it out their ass and pulling everything out of China was not an easy decision, because it lost them a ton of money in the short term.

For an indie though, it absolutely is. They lose absolutely nothing by telling them to go fuck themselves and in fact they should be encouraged to do it. Indies have a huge advantage there compared to corpos.

The name was "Kochou Cocoa" which is very similar to Coco's. According to comments there was a mixup, it's not CCP but random stalkers trying to dox her and whatnot.

Are youtube chat tools that bad? Usually in Twitch dealing with bot spam is just a few settings away and maybe 1 third party bot. Is youtube chat that barebones that theres only membership mode and manual bans?
