Reading Reddit makes one immediately understand why our justice system is constructed the way it is. It certainly isn't perfect and there is a de facto two-tiered justice system in the US which needs to be corrected, but I'm thankful that if I'm accused of a crime I at least have the right to defend myself, confront my accusers, not be tried by hearsay, not have the burden of proving my own innocence, not incriminate myself, etc...

It would be like a German peoples court during the reign of Hitler. Where the accused would be humiliated during the trial by having no belt and having to hold their pants lest they fall down and yelling at the accused for simply stating facts.
