So apparently this picture of Raihan (a brown-skinned man) from Pokemon Sword and Shield, holding up a banana peel in a tight crop top was viewed as racist.

At first, I was fine with the artist apologizing but after really thinking about it...They shouldn't have been so sorry about it. There is nothing racist about it. The art didn't imply that Raihan was stupid or a neanderthal or ugly....It has sexual energy to it, and that's the point of it. It's like pin-up art.

If your brain goes to racist images when looking at a black/dark-skinned person with a Diddy Kong shirt on, YOU HAVE ISSUES. IT'S NOT THE ARTIST,
ITS YOU.

What makes this whole thing worse is that the artist is acting like a pussy CEO account and only responding to people berating them on this HORRIBLE, JIM CROW TIER DEPICTION OF A BLACK PERSON.

The funniest fucking part about it is that Raihan isn't even black. He's likely Middle Eastern, due to the fact that his name is of Arabic origin and really, the only ethnic group that can get that dark while also having eyes that blue without that person being a complete and utter outlier are people from the Middle East. They're tearing this guy to shreds over literally nothing.

someone brought that up and another person immediately replied 'uh black people can have arabic names too?' that's cool, they can also have some fucked up names like sharkeesha.


it sucks that the artist got bombed like that because the art was really good.

I always thought he could've been North African/Arabic...If anything there are a good number of middle eastern people in the UK....

But nope Brown=African. Always. No other race can be naturally dark-skinned. Only the brown people from the brown rock.

These Asian artists need to learn how to stand up for themselves and tell them to stop over=reacting....They cannot keep bending over for these fucking retards who haven't graduated from college yet. It's been opinion for a while that the US sequesters its population away from the world. It sounds Orwellian, but it's a lot stupider than that. The US is Schrodinger's Country: it is both the world’s greatest country and everything about it is awful simultaneously. So we find ourselves condescending to people we claim to advocate.

I'm also getting really pissed off at this normalization of sexualizing teenagers-- consider that (at least in the US), the age of consent in most states is around 18. They're normalizing making the sexual habits of minors a topic of interest/ celebration-- and that's kind of inappropriate in itself. Why do we need a fictional character, presumably not "of legal age", who has an identified set of sexual kinks?
