Humor is, by far, the most powerful tool that humanity has. Humorless takes, no matter how true they are, about the nature of biology or whatever are never going to work because they aren't fun. This super thing is getting on people's nerves so effectively because it is taking the piss and being silly. It's childish and irreverent, which is exactly why it works.
