I disagree there's a tendency towards evil, but there is a tendency towards self-interest.
Leftists in general think humanity can be perfected if they just find the right combination of levers (by which I mean, governance). A good parallel is the RPG player who hunts for the perfect dice that will let him always win.
Those of us with the constrained vision realize humanity is flawed, and hoping that people will be magically 'better' is stupid. So we seek to build systems where if you DO get a bad apple, it limits the damage they can do. To continue the RPG analogy, we're the players that just try to minmax the bonuses so the dice rolls are less critical.

Not all of them but enough of them that any system that doesn't account for it and have some ability to use force, up to and including lethal force, to counter them will have a very short lifespan.
Path to victory for Dems is in fighting between establishment Republicans like Romney and McConnell against the more populist Trump wing of the party. This could split the vote or drive down the turnout in 2024.
Dems are using the instability to push for packing the Senate by adding Puerto Rico and DC, as well as packing the court. These attempts will likely fail but the real danger is amnesty for all illegal aliens that Biden is pushing. It will pack both the House and Senate for a generation giving them the power to do whatever they want.
The question for the Dems moving forward is can they hold onto the extreme activists like Antifa and BLM will keeping the working class in Pen/Wisc/Mich especially without Trump.

The whole fuzz started because a black woman from Portland named Mariah tweeted some racist stuff (Mexicans/Asians stink, are dirty/lazy, some anti jewish stuff, ...) and
this 'reporter' TJ Partridge called her out for it. Since it's a black woman he's labeled a racist and not only did he lose his job, it also created some infighting between Portland antifas.
