He seems alright back in those days when he fought the good fight. Just seeing the major changes of Jim through the time-skip between 2016 and now, it feels like one big disappointment large enough to be its own deathfat (just like present-day and potential future Jim). From his Tweet about his disapproval of feminists back in 2014, to trooning out at the beginning of 2021, he has truly become the monster that he hated back in the early to mid 2010s.

Frankly, given how shitty GARME JURNALIZM is I honestly think that if I were to become a game reviewer I'd insist on doing it in print. And I'd take a leaf out of Amiga Power's book from back in the day - never, ever, bend the knee to anyone, but always be prepared to justify your views. I didn't agree with some of their scores (they didn't like Frontier: Elite II and they also sang the praises of football management games way too hard considering I've never understood the appeal of same) but I could understand why, for the most part, they gave them what they did.
