if you were really a "professional" railroader, you'd know that there's no Federal Railroad Administration requirement for safety vests for roadway workers (people who perform maintenance on track/infrastructure). requirements are left to the individual railroad and/or the operating rules they operate under.

I've lazily been reading it, amused by the antics of the psychotic train tard, but it wasn't anything that tickled my fancy enough to get involved. I tend to operate on the rule that if I don't have anything new or particularly witty to say, then I don't waste everyone's time.

The important part is near the bottom of Len's post, talking about his family's military history. This in itself normally wouldn't be enough to spurn me to comment. But no. He had to start dropping a shit load of specifics which, ironically, aren't specific at fucking all. Unfortunately for him, he's proven to be a bullshit liar. Even more unfortunate for him is that I've been studying WWII for over ten years. Extra unfortunately for him, he mentioned the B-29. My favorite bomber.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this in later posts. I immediately stopped reading the thread to throw this together. Keep in mind, I didn't do extensive, exhaustive digging for information; I didn't have much information to go off of, and I can only waste so much time on some cow on the farms, hilarious though he may be. Much of this is speculation. There are other factors at play here. He could have been relayed incorrect information. Or he could just be a bullshit liar as per usual.

Still, maybe it's worth noting.

H'okay. He mentions that his dad's brother in law Gerry being a waist gunner on B-29 #55. This is the first source of confusion for me. B-29s had serial numbers, but they were in the form of xx-xxxxx, not #xx. Even the ones with names had their own special serial number. So I did a little digging, and two B-29s came up that had #55 associated with them: Her Majesty (42-63375) whose CBI marking was Diamond #55, and Hollywood Commando (42-24724) whose Tinian markings were Triangle-N #55. In my digging, I saw some speculation that these two planes were actually the same; Her Majesty was renamed Hollywood Commando. I'm not of this opinion, however, so I'm going about this as if they're two separate planes.

You'll notice the circled part of the above screen shot. It indicates the date of the Hollywood Commando's crash. We can assume Gerry was not part of this crew, then.

Which leaves Her Majesty.

The above seems to indicate that Her Majesty was damaged at the assembly factory. It was then assigned to the 5th Bomber Wing, which then went on to participate in raids on Singapore. Which is...not Japan.

While I was extremely dismissive of the notion that someone would fly a fucking Superfortress under the goddamn Golden Gate Bridge, I looked in to it and I found a few mentions of it supposedly happening, but no photographic evidence. There following is a list of United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) bases that are in California. There were no notable B-29 factories in California; this means that there may have been factories that made certain B-29 parts, but there were no assembly factories.

* Edwards Air Force Base - Lancaster, California
*McClellan Airfield - Sacramento, California
*March Air Reserve Base - Moreno Valley, California
*Hamilton Army Airfield - Novato, California

Mentions of B-17s and B-25s at these four fields, but no mention of B-29s. So for the life of me I can't imagine why a B-29 would be in San Francisco, but I suppose it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility.


Then there's the matter of his uncle Ron who received three Purple Hearts.

There is the possibility that he had a different surname, or perhaps he just isn't on the list. So this isn't damning evidence set in stone.

This is literally just me being a nit-picky bastard, but I'm pretty sure France and Belgium aren't part of Germany. Unless Len was making a joke about the German occupation, in which case, well played, train tard. Well played.
