I wish it was a larp.I don't know if this is the proper thread for it but I felt like posting some thoughts regarding TDS now even that it seems extremely likely that Biden will be the next POTUS. This post is nothing revolutionary and it's been said a million times in a million better ways. Maybe just skip it.
I should also say that there may be a few things that I say which could be interpreted as glowing, and it should be stated clearly that getting violent and causing harm to people is gay, possibly even homosexual, and I don't endorse it. If you're planning on doing that, please be the first and sole victim of your attempted mass shooting.
While certainly not unique to TDS, I think it's certainly a great example of just how over socialized many people have become (or perhaps under socialized) with all of these talks about making lists for those involved with Trump, those accused of being white supremacists, fascists, etc. For all of the fantasies and what appear to be threats against political enemies, one thing that is missing is fear. I'm not talking about lacking fear not that the end approaches for Trump, I mean the fear that was never really there except for the performative kind. There are many who feel very comfortable saying things that, to say the least, you probably wouldn't say to someone who is actually across the table from you and who might punch you in the face. A non-TDS example of this is some of the more spergy larpers who talk (and granted, most of it is memes) about "The Day of The Rope", calling people 'niggers' and other things. Let's be real, the number of N bombs plummet when D'ontavious is in the room. This of course isn't an avowal of violence just because of words (it's ridiculous of someone to get violent over someone saying 'nigger'), it's simply to say that people tend to be a lot more level headed when there's that risk; something you don't have nearly as much of when you're talking about making lists of Trump supporters or calling everyone a fascist Nazi, etc. on Twitter. Now the one difference with those examples to be fair is that in a real life scenario you're much more likely to get popped in the eye by the former than you are by the supposed white supremacist, American-Israeli lapel pinned, MAGA hat wearing fascist.
It speaks volumes about the state that social media has allowed so many people to be put into much like the one demonstrated in the post which @Salubrious made (and I'm assuming isn't a larp), and how it seems absolutely plausible despite how ridiculous it comes across. By the way, Salubrious, your friend's father comes across like a total loser and I imagine he epitomizes the type of person who would be talking a hell of a lot less shit if there weren't cameras everywhere and he really believed that the jackbooted fascists were about to crack skulls any moment before Biden saved the world. To get back on track a little, these people who are getting very spicy with their revenge fantasies and their calls for "lists" are playing with fire. Conservative types, despite CNN, and your Tik Tok thot and college aged socialist family members droning, are very slow to react to craziness. What could happen, and I don't even think on a grand scale, is that some are really going to be pushed to action (the kind that gets very ugly, very quickly). While I think many who are antagonizing really do want that to manifest because it'll give them a reason to claim that they're right for demonizing MAGA supporters, a lot of people are going to have a shred of sympathy for the people who are being told that there's plans to have lists made with their names on it all because some psychos really want to crush some dissidents.
Unfortunately 2 of my 3 best friends are his sons, and they are as much a bleeding heart liberal as their father, so I expect to lose their friendship any day now.
The one "good" part is that they already live hundreds of miles away due to work, so I only see them 3-4 times per year anyway.
LOL. Biden is pushing a message of unity.
Also, get the Trump supporter lists ready.
