I believe there was a point in that stream where he also turned off the switch while it was doing it's day 1 update, which obviously has a DON'T DO THIS warning before you accept the update and he ignored like he always does.

DSP when he finds one: Look at this idiot ack ack ack ack
The comment section of his twitter:

At 1:32 when he says it 'just shut off' he's holding it up in his left hand and it's on. You can see the logo and 'switch' on the screen.

Wtf? How does he even have time to browse twitter during his busy day off full of appointments, grocery shopping and spending time with his wife (he's married btw)?
You left out 'reading his threads on the farm'.

Hi Phail!

I wasn't around for this time but he never did the override on that unit which is press down both volumes then power did he?
Conspiracy theory here, but I'm half convinced he faked the whole thing. Would be very easy to fake a system brick to his audience. Just hold it up, not actually pressing the power button, "See?! It won't turn on! I'm holding the button!" Remember also that Phil also was very butthurt at Nintendo at the time because they were claiming ad revenue on Youtube videos, and we know how he loves to bitch about companies he feels have slighted him in some way. He claimed in a prestream I found on pigpiggo that he returned the bricked Switch to Best Buy and got a full refund, and then a fan sent him a new one. So either that never happened and he faked the whole thing for clout, then simply claimed the 'bricked' Switch was the new one a fan donated, or he got the Switch for free. King of grifting.

The evidence against this is that he actually bought the Wii U version of Breath of the Wild because he needed those day 1 views. Not sure if he would go that far for the grift. But it is Phil so who knows?

I do feel like that would be too much work and effort just to say "Fuck Nintendo" but Phil is a petty bitch that called his parents stupid for not buying a different colored toy over +20 years ago. That being said the only thing I found about brick Switches is that they were caused by third-party docks which Phil never used.

So how did he brick his Switch? Some say because he left the power saving settings on "Never" thus causing the device to burn out. However, Phil turned off his Switch and let it charge overnight. Now that could brick a Switch but at that point, it means that Nintendo created a device that bricks if you let it on the dock which a majority of people did. So that mentions Phil did get a defective device, but I don't believe that. Second, thought was him turning off the Nintendo during an update which is plausible but never heard of it happening. Now a way that a console could get bricked is if there was a power outage and then the power came back, short-circuiting the Switch. Now, this is my go-to reason why his Switch was bricked. He did have a shit ton of cables connected to a power outlet, and the Switch seems to have a weak power supply so I wouldn't be surprised that an outage damaged his Switch especially when he has a lot of devices connected to one power hub.

But if none of those things happened then Phil was scamming his audience to get him a free Switch. Which he can return his to Best Buy and get money back then use the receipt to declare a business expense for his taxes. But Occam's Razor, Phil just got bad luck and was smited by the Gaming Gods with a defective Switch.
