Hell, I got banned once in a random ban wave where Lowtax just banned random people to be funny, losing my avatar and platinum in the process. I was still pretty young, so having my account and its upgrades just straight up stolen from me was upsetting, because $35 is a lot of money when you’re a teenager working a shitty job for minimum wage.

Though, shamefully, I did reregister, as there was fuck all else I knew about at the time. Goons really have this cultish mentality where their ideas of outside forums are stuck in 2002, where the alternatives are all full of unwashed savages, and only the glorious Something Awful forum has mods that keep out the riffraff, so alternative forums were never discussed.

But for what it’s worth, I didn’t rebuy platinum or an avatar. I also decided I wouldn’t rereg if I got banned again, so I had to be really cautious when I posted. You know what that makes you? A white noise poster, too afraid to step on any toes or even try to be funny in any kind of serious capacity. Lowtax was the thinnest skinned person on the entire website before the troon takeover, and it made for this oppressive atmosphere where you never knew if you were gonna violate some arbitrary rule-of-the-day and get in trouble. It was the same kinda deal with mods, where they’d chimp out and probate you for any reason, with no oversight at all. So, threads always flowed the exact same way, to the point where you could easily generate a Markov chain and generate random threads that’d look identical to SA ones. Like, in Games? No negativity on a game that the hivemind hasn’t decided to cancel, no shitposting, no jokes. And this was BEFORE the troon take over, though after the best days of the forums. You wanna post? You’re either gonna be a cog in the machine, or staff is gonna find a reason to ban you.

That’s how it felt after a while, anyway. The troon takeover was inevitable, with the unbridled amount of power Lowtax and the mods were throwing around with so many different people. Of course that’d attract a legion of psychos that’d usurp the throne, just like water getting into every single unsealed nook and cranny of anything left out in a storm.

How is that remotely fun? Look how much you have to chimp out here to get banned, you almost have to be a crazy, feces flinging ape AND be going out of your way.

I don't know why, but for whatever reason I can't seem to believe Lowtax ever thought of his (now ex-)wife and kids as highly as the post says.

I still don't get all of their kneejerk defense of Burt Sexual. It's like they're trying to reassure everyone that just because they got rid of Lowtax doesn't mean that they won't make the worst moderating decisions humanly possible.

I'm sure they're all still friends in a discord server somewhere and they're sticking by their buddy. Would it be SA if it wasn't full of retarded high school cliquishness?
 
Unless They seriously clean house with the mods and admins nothing's gonna change, it will be the exact same shit as before but I doubt that even a massive mutiny could get Burt out of there. I've seen this shit before on the site and should probably get around to telling that story at some point.
 
Lowtax's biggest failure was not belonging to whichever IRC or discord clique held power. SA is incredibly clique-y and the gay ops is unbelievable. If you're in a subforum's clique you can get away with posting shit that would get other people banned, usually.
