I happen to believe SC packing, while technically legal, is a constitution destroying action that will lead to the direct breakdown of the country one way or the other. Either because the country ends up fundamentally altered to not resemble anything like it is supposed to(too late I know) or from out right revolt. The fact that people are going to vote for someone who is leaving a very clear self destruct button on the table is absolutely terrifying.
Honestly, court packing is just one more of those cases where the american legislation has gone too long without another ammendment and it shows. The founding fathers didn't predict bullshit of this caliber would be used, that's why they didn't ban it, now that we do know it can be we should be making sure it isn't.
Although if you ask me, most blatant issue with america today is the electoral system. No, not the fucking electoral college, we use the same regionalistic method here in spain and it works great. I mean the First Past The Post voting method, which makes bipartidism inescapable, driving american politics towards polarization and allows for gerrymandering to happen. Here, let me show you what I mean:
CGP Grey has a whole series on how other systems work, his clear favorites being Alternative Vote and STV. They'te mine too but leaving aside which is the best, the important point stands, FPTP is really not a good system, most of the planet's already changed for other methods, and america really needs to fix it. Without it, court packing wouldn't even be such an issue, because without a strict 2 party system the gov needs support from other parties, so the supreme court gets less political.
Apparently anyone asking Joe Biden's campaign about the court packing issue is just a Republican. There is no other reason why someone would ask such a question. In the video quoted, the reporter asked if the voters deserved to know the Biden-Harris campaign's stance on packing the court. And Joe Biden said:
"No they don't deserv- eeeeeI'm not going to play his game."
Honestly. At this point it'd be better if he did say yes! I mean, really, if he did at least they couldn't keep making him look this weak by bringing it up over and over again, and berniebros would be thrilled. Saying nothing makes most people as uneasy as ig he said yes, but it also fucks his rhetoric over. Not to mention I'd have expected him to just fucking lie and say no anyway, I mean really, 90% of what comes out of his mouth is either a lie or incoherent. What the fuck is going on with this bollocks?!
