People on the right have witnessed so much malicious mendacity and insanity on the left, some of them speculate this infection was intentional. (Which, to be fair, is totally within possibility with the hardcore TDS crowd, but it's otherwise baseless.) I don't expect many would just accept a COVID death outright without questioning it.
