I can't tell you how much of a weight off it was when I'd done a decent amount of self-defence training and checked what weapons I could legally carry. It's a huge relief to be able to say what you think to strange men who approach you and be honest, knowing that if he got violent you could bang him out and run. I hadn't realised just how much effort I'd been putting into what's essentially situational awareness and threat detection since I was a little kid. It’s horrifying to have to worry about but you’re completely correct. Having to quickly assess the situation and decide between being honest, making something up, giving them your number -> blocking them when it’s safe, or being completely firm with your “no” is a snap decision women often have to make within seconds of meeting a man. And a firm no is usually never the safest option. I’m fully convinced it’s dealing with shit like this that most of “women’s intuition” comes from, not some heightened biological emotionality (although sure that’s part of it).
Guys like Ratmouth are thankfully in the minority.
But lord save the women who have made the wrong decision with him, “falsely represented” their availability/interest and given him ADA-protected C-PTSD.
tl;dr: every girl should learn how to fight in case of Russes.
