This one's believable, it's literally a calculator widget that performs a simple subtraction with some propaganda text. They could have whipped that one up pretty quickly.

I think he's implying that the answer to "how robust his businesses are" is "As robust as Swiss Cheese". Still odd phrasing.

Y'know they're always whining about Republican voters voting against their own self-interest, and yet consistently you have people like this that hear that rich people can afford to hire attorneys and accountants to pay less taxes than are taken out of their own paychecks, and instead of thinking "Maybe the government should take less of my paycheck" their instant, consistent, and unwavering thought is "The government needs to punish those rich people more". They're literally so vindictive and jealous over this shit that it overrides their usual selfishness to give them zero self interest.

They actually believe the government needs the money, and uses it to help the country overall. They're that idealistic.

I bet you make more than a dollar per year. That plus about 7500 in royalties would give us Trump’s taxes.

HAVING money isn’t taxable, unless you impose a wealth tax. You can have trillions in gold or under your mattress abd those dollars not only aren’t taxable, they don’t contribute to the economy or cause inflation.

The loophole is “don’t make income”, and if you do make income, try to defer it or make it from non-taxable sources. If you have a million dollars, and invest that all in Vanguard’s California municipal mutual bond funds, you will earn about $15/month, but you pay zero tax to anyone. Outside of california you could have made 2%/year on the same investment, about 5k.

The increase in stock price is cap gains, which is taxed at 15% when you sell the stock. And you can performs all kind of grifting with these too - you can start a 501(c)(3) charity, donating your shares to it, that requires you to fly around the world doing good deeds, you can fatten up your 401(k) then roll that 401(k) into another company which you own and whose shares are the only stock the 401(k) is allowed to purchase, then spend that business income on “marketing”, etc.

Vast sums of money (on paper) are technically worth nothing. Until they’re not.

If governments didn't waste money on any number of disastrous or contemptible things I would be more amenable to this kind of sentiment, but government hasn't been "for the people" in quite a while. I believe it's patriotic to give as little to the government as possible, partially because I'm a libertarian and partially because they waste it. Charities and schools are much more deserving of funding.

I give to the people I consider good and won't give to those I consider bad. I don't presume to be better than anyone else (except communists) so what people do with their money is no concern of mine, as long as no property rights are violated.

People are in a snit because Trump's accountant took some business credits. You know why Congress puts business credits in the tax code? To encourage businesses to do certain things, and give them a reward for doing so. And it's not just businesses. Individuals get all kinds of credits and deductions, too. The tax code is a means of directing behavior, Trump just did what the government wanted him to. Anyone who took an education credit for the women's studies degree, or deducts their 401k contributions, has no standing to criticize Trump for playing the same game.

Several signs were posted downtown with anti-police messages and calling for the death of President Donald Trump, according to police.

“If I had to estimate how many there were, probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 50,” said Anthony Prezioso, the Westport police spokesman.

Around four to six signs were posted in certain spots throughout downtown, Prezioso said. The signs were reported early Sunday morning and have since been taken down.

“We were made aware of it and we are actively investigating it,” Prezioso said. “In terms of the messaging it was anti-police and anti-Trump type of stuff.”

Prezioso said while police are on the alert for the usual political signage thefts during election season, he had never seen this.


“This is different from that,” Prezioso said. “It’s concerning. Most of the message though is pretty vague and general. It’s not necessarily overly specific.”

One sign read, “This town is ours. Kill Trump. Fight the white.” Others said, “The only good cop is a dead cop.” Prezioso said some signs had the symbol of the Worker’s Party of Korea, which is the ruling political party of the North Korean government.



“Although obviously a very strange addition, I cannot even begin to speculate as to why this was include on these postings,” Prezioso said.
The threatening signage also caused concern for some residents.
“I think it’s disrespectful,” Sal Liccione, a Church lane resident and RTM member, said. “Whoever it is should be prosecuted to the fullest extent.”

But Prezioso said it appeared whoever posted the signage looked to find the most controversial statement to put up in large quantities to draw attention.
“We feel like we have the community support here,” Prezioso said. “We certainly work hard to earn the community’s trust and to earn that support.”
He said although the investigation is ongoing, he’s not aware if other towns in the area are seeing similar signs pop up.
“These signs seem to be unique to Westport, but that could of changed since yesterday,” Prezioso said. “But to the best of my knowledge ... I’m not aware this is an issue anywhere else or anything exactly like this is anywhere else.”

I don't get the line of reasoning mocking him for being supposedly "poor" (despite having billions in assets; property is worth money, who'd have thunk it).
It's not exactly a hard leap to go from "they're mocking him for being poor?" to "wait, does that mean they hate poor people?" by working class who the majority of are reasonably and sadly poor.
