It's a divisive topic because it could go either way.

I agree with what you said because, as you say, no real children are abused. and maybe pedos can get their rocks off to that instead of actual CSAM, which might cut down the market, meaning fewer victims.

That said, I disagree as well. The problem is mentally-ill people might find it to be a "gateway drug" that leads to children being abused, even if they aren't physically doing it themselves and are "just" downloading actual CSAM, which then creates a market.

It's not a simple subject to discuss either, because of the subject matter someone is bound to get angry, either because they think the other person is paedophile, or because they're being called a paedophile. I'm curious if there's actually been any studies done regarding this, and if there were what the results ended up being.
