Its a bit of both, really. There was a LOT of (necessary) red tape when vaccines where first properly regulated. This was due to there being a lot of skepticism about them and a lack of standardized vaccination creation techniques making it a sort of "Wild West of Vaccines". Modern vaccine creation largely follows one of three methods of creation which we -generally- know all the major side effects which are likely or possible to occur. If the vaccine is made off one of these, the FDA will feel fairly confident in clearing it quickly.


If its NOT from one of those three, I expect the FDA to run it through tits full, usual rigor sans the extra red tape, but given the fast tracking it probably is one of the three.

Now, thats not to say fast tracking doesn't pose a risk. You'll note i am speaking in generalities above. There is a real and present risk of something getting borked, its just likely been determined that the chance of it is lower than the chance of covid deaths long term.

Forgive me for the delayed response, but I appreciate you answering my question. So in other words, they are taking a risk on this because it's probably lower than dying from SARS-2.

More or less, yes. Is it a gamble? Yes. Is it AS reckless as people are implying? Nowhere near. I myself am skeptical of it since the deadlyness of the disease is small and I feel this is opening pandora's box to a slippery slope, but its not without merit.

Except we know somebody would do something. Trump has a vested interest in doing something about it, will have a Supreme Court ready to challenge it, and there is enough unrest now that neither side would leave it be. While its easy to fudge the numbers and claim victory, niether side can actually let that stand.

The goal is power, and if there is any doubt that cannot be quashed as to the result, that power is lessened.

Unfortunately not. You don't get that high up without being thoroughly vetted by the system over decades. Ultimately this whole thing is kabuki theater. They'll find a way to rebalance the court. The GOP will either nominate a compromise candidate who will let things like DACA/Roe v. Wade stand or they'll allow the Dems to pack the court later.

The system is rigged and needs to be delegitimized and eventally undone.
