jfc. do their skulls just grow indefinitely? is it because they're children or would an adult skull develop similarly with the same pressure?
nature is fucking horrifying sometimes.

That's part of why Luna's head is so misshapen now. As a result of her hydrocephalus, her head swelled, causing her fontanelles to expand and separate, leaving her skill very stretched and thin. After the surgery, the swelling went down, but the skull won't ever go back to it's 'normal' shape.I thought their skulls never closed up because they're instead stretched out by the water collecting in the head, so the fontanelles never seal as they do with a normal infant.
I'm surprised she lasted that long. These kids are pretty potato, right? There's clearly someone "there" but considering hydrocephaly is constant, constant pressure bearing down on your brain I expected it to be the sort of thing that kills a few days after birth, or a few months at most. Maybe I'm a cold bitch but what kind of a life is it where you can't even learn how to crawl because your head is three times the size of your body, literally larger than an adult's?
Also double fun fact: apparently it was believed until like the 60's that babies wouldn't retain the memory of surgical operations so they just fucking strapped them down and cut them open, no anesthesia.
Cognitive ability may be effected and ususally is, but not always. In these extreme cases it probably is, but you can even have normal pressure hydrocephalus in dementia patients.jfc. do their skulls just grow indefinitely? is it because they're children or would an adult skull develop similarly with the same pressure?

I have never heard the name "Nevaeh

Seriously? It was the absolute height of cracker chic in like, 2010.I have never heard the name "Nevaeh" before digging through retard baby stuff. I've already encountered like 20 so far.

You would be forgiven for thinking the name isn’t Nevaeh but “Nevaeh, it’s heaven spelled backwards” because I’ve never heard anyone just the name without adding the explanation.Heaven spelled backwards
And of course the other kids just have to have a t-shirt to commemorate their dead sibling .
The poor girls look like someone is holding a shotgun to their heads and whispering "smile, or else..." Metaphorically, that's close to what's going on, though.
I thought that "Nevaeh" was the height of white trash names, but the blogspot link you posted has entries about a "Trinadee". One of Nevaeh's sisters is named Makailyn.I have never heard the name "Nevaeh" before digging through retard baby stuff. I've already encountered like 20 so far.

And taking pictures of those little girls holding that dead baby is beyond the fucking pale. I think that's one of the most abhorrent things I've seen these tard baby parents do and that's saying a LOT.
And holy fuck
The worst instance I know of was of these fundie parents that had a miscarriage around 20 weeks, after the fetus was discovered to have a condition incompatible with life that they of course refused to abort. After the miscarriage they brought their young daughters, 3 and 5 I believe, into room, put them face to face with their dead fetus sibling and forced them to say goodbye. Their blatant PTSD symptoms continuing weeks and months later were just attributed to "grief".And taking pictures of those little girls holding that dead baby is beyond the fucking pale. That reminds me of the mommy vloggers that record their kids' reactions to their miscarriages. Its like these moms are upset they don't have a "special" baby to haul around so now they get to blog about dealing with their normal kid's grief. The worst instance I know of was of these fundie parents that had a miscarriage around 20 weeks, after the fetus was discovered to have a condition incompatible with life that they of course refused to abort. Uh, watch the video, and you’ll see how pointless that would be. A cleft palate is the very least of his problems.
EDIT: Oh, fuck, don't look up Matthew Manuel today, they've gotten that poor thing to survive three years and its horrific. This is a quote from their last blog update:
You get some mild hope that the parents have finally realized they should let this potato die in peace but nope. The blog goes on to say they've found some hokey holisitic behavior program that's offering a real chance for Matthew's quality of life! I looked into the place, it's mostly a for profit program that trains parents with kids with ADD, autism, etc... yet somehow the parents think it offers real hope for their potato. They are pouring money into this BS too. It's just fucking sad and delusional and I can't believe that poor thing is still being subjected to this shit. I don't know if this is peak potato torture but it seems close.
Fyi: Mathew has 150 to 200 seizures per day even while on 9 anti-seizures meds including massive levels of phenobarbital
