As for the Vice interview, wouldn't it be a good thing getting the antifa guy to talk, somewhat candidly, without a lawyer? If he was still alive, couldn't some of this be used against him?

Any trial performed in a West Coast state would inevitably result in a hung jury or an innocent verdict. You're dealing with jurors, at least half of whom, that 100% agree that Trump supporters are all Heinrich Himmler. Even if it were proven beyond all reasonable doubt that he was the killer and that his actions constituted murder and terrorism, they would still #resist and let him go free, that is, if the DA even bothered to prosecute one of their own. Vice understands that he was in no real danger of incarceration.
