If I was going to optimize what they're doing, I would introduce her to sports bras or wire-free bras, and say look you don't need makeup (because it's uncomfortable and unnecessary for a 14 year old) but let me teach you to style and maintain your hair.
Hell, you don't even need the styling. She can go the tomboy route and get an all-purpose ponytail or chop-cut. If she wants, she can dress and act like how she thinks she would if she were a teenage boy, no hormones or surgery required.

Nah, I think this is more "not like the other girls" syndrome. The tomboy who wants hang around guys type but more unnecessarily complicated because trans. This FtM unlike those other selfish FtMs, is compassionate. She undestands that boys have it worse and girls bringing their lesser issues up are absolutely unreasonable. It's not like both can be frustrating and need airing out, nah there can only be one and she has chosen her side. React it optimistic, but chances are the paint they used is shitty acrylic paint with little/no sealant, so that shit can come off in a snap even without chemicals, while the original painting underneath is still there beneath the sealant that allowed it to survive 40 years so well intact. If someone recognizes the board, they might try to remove the paint job and discover the old artwork underneath. It happens all the time, really. Maybe a sane friend of theirs could play along and offer to buy that "incredible custom board!! Some people would pay GOOD MONEY for this!!" and restore it without the troon knowing.
I get that tomboys often feel inadequate as women (I would know, most of the girls I dated were tomboys and I married one), but I really wish the gendercult wouldn't latch on to those insecurities like that. It never helps, and FTMs are almost universally huge bundles of anxiety and/or frankly pitiful overcompensation. Which is tragic, because past middle school most boys are perfectly happy with having a girl who's "one of the boys" around. Yeah, things get awkward every now and then when the ways in which she's not "one of the boys" come to the fore but fuck... beats trying to understand what the boyband-and-makeup girls on the other side of the classroom are talking about.
