Why are you all trying so hard to argue/defend yourself against someone like Fatriarchy who called BRAPexpert (who clearly said he wasn't religious) a "Bible beater" simply because he said he liked the current pledge and terminology as is for non-religious reasons?

i find that part of the pledge beautiful. Personally I'm not religious but whether you are or not doesnt matter. The phrase is intended to unite people. "under god" is just a nice way of saying, we're all in this together.

All you need to do to be considered a "Bible thumper" among fedoras and dems these days is simply not have a negative opinion about religion or religious terminology it seems. Meanwhile being even actually remotely religious gets you labeled a racist nazi lunatic on par with some church burning Black Sun acolyte, unless you're muslim of course.

As for the pledge, I don't think the dems are doing it for fedora-reasons (at least not the establishment ones interested in control for the time being) but the usual logic behind this from their "neutral" supporters is that they gotta be mindful of immigrants with foreign religions such as muslims, despite Allah just being the muslim name for God, Buddhists being a minority who won't give a shit unless they're some white California hipsters posers who only treat oriental religions as more of a fashion trend, and Hindus are an absolute minority who will probably just not say under God or treat God as almost synonymous with the Brahman or simply replace it with Gods if they want. In the end, Dems only do this to show off and fulfill the age old moronic standard of the two party system to always do the exact opposite of whatever your enemy does.

There was probably some secret hope among them that she'd offer them wiggle room to say she was sending secret messages about what an awful person he is and that she needs help. An unambiguously positive speech leaves them nothing to work with so they're pissed off that yet again she hasn't given them anything to work with.

You almost have to wonder how much of this comes from Bluepilled soyboy types who think the world works like a Disney movie and/or shonen anime, so any time they see a pretty woman with a guy they don't like she must be abused/treated poorly/held prisoner, etc.

Then when it turns out the fair damsel is not in distress and quite happy with her confident jock bf billionaire showbiz president husband, it must be because she is a cheap whore with no morals.

I mean that's hardly a Disney/animu trope. That's virtually every movie or series out there. Hallmark especially loves it. Fair maidens needing to be rescued from the successful jerk they were too stupid to know was wrong for them even though he treated her like dirt and made her miserable has been a staple of media almost since the advent of the moving picture. Probably before, hell, look at the number of "dashing rogue spirits the lady away from her horrible arranged marriage" stuff... the only thing that changed is that since arranged marriages stopped being a thing, they just now treated the fair maiden as if she's a completely spineless moron for picking someone that's a piece of shit that she needs to be saved from.

In the end all it is, is the whole "why do girls like stupid jerks instead of knightly m'lords like me?"

Aside from the whole notion of Internet websites being captured by leftists, it’s probably because the DNC convention was about as interesting and inspiring as boiled chicken.

If I might postulate a bit. I suspect that this relates to one of the reasons the left find Trump so enragingly baffling. Think about it for a bit:

We have a bloviating, self aggrandizing billionaire, born with a silver spoon in his mouth. By any normal metric from the outside, the working class should -hate- him.

Yet, they don't. In fact, they embrace him eagerly in droves.

I think a lot of it comes down to Trump retaining something a lot of his moneyed peers did not. He remembers the worth of a dollar. He can connect across class because while he has never been in their rung of society, he has retained an understanding of an individual dollars worth and how little it can stretch. So when he speaks, its in a language both can agree to. Unlike saaay, Romney, who makes 10K bets as if it were a fiver. Or Hillary Clinton, totally disconnecting from the working classes trials and travails.

I think the more important thing is that he doesn’t talk down to the working class as if they were some untermensch that the political class/boutique activists often publicly declare them as. He’s rude, he’s uncouth, he’s gaudy, and he sure as heck is no saint, but he doesn’t declare that your existence is offensive and that you should apologize for it.

Maybe they're doubling down on the "See where electing a "plucky outsider" gets you, pandemic and pandemonium!" message. It's oddly conservative for the Left, but between "Trust the science" and this crap, it seems they really are going for "We're the adults here" platform.
