Thing about the wokes Jess's age is they've completely fucked up all concept of friendship, love, and attraction for themselves by constantly trying to redefine and reshape what all of those mean. The "platonic dating" bullshit has been many years in the building and has created (ironically) blurred lines for all these people. It doesn't help that a lot of them are both autistic as hell and just incredibly self-centered, for a combination of not understanding their own emotions and not really being able to conceive of emotions outside of their own understanding.
So you wind up calling a friend/roommate you get along with really well your spouse, or your friend circle your "poly cluster", but then because those needs aren't actually met you just keep dreaming of adding in that one more person that will finally make you complete, or at least empty your balls. It's like some pitifully maladjusted adult version of playing house.

If their entire identity doesn't revolve around being trans, if they actually have surgery, and as said they don't act like they're fetishizing the entire concept of being a woman, I'll often give the benefit of the doubt and assume they're "legit" and not a trender.
Jess is sort of iffy on the first one but the other two seem to be in place, so eh. I haven't been a longtime follower enough to judge accurately so half the time I just avoid pronouns altogether. Not because I care what Jess would think or to avoid offending anybody, just for my own choice.
