Liet Kynes is the father of Chani and there is much more. How often he should appear in the scenes is pretty irrelevant.


Why do this SJW casting? Dude was clearly described as a man, is it too much to ask to be faithful to the book or just go off the deep end and call the movie something else.

I think we all know why they do this sort of revisionism... it's stupid, I just don't think it matters much in this case, since he's a minor character who dies early on.

Liet Kynes could just as easily be Chani's mother, it makes absolutely no difference to the character or story (the character can still give out exposition in the first act with a pair of tits).

It's pointless pandering, but it's not too bitter a pill to swallow.

As for Javier Bardem, well, he wouldn't have been my first choice. I would have preferred Navid Negahban, Shaun Toub, Jay Abdo , Marwan Kenzari,
Ali Suliman, Amr Waked, or even Riz Ahmed.

I don't know if Numan Acar has the acting chops for it, but he has the perfect look for Stilgar.
