And let's not forget the terror of getting your period for the first time, trying to figure out how to hide pads/tampons so classmates wouldn't know you were on your period & tease you for it, the fear of leaking through your clothes, teachers asking why you need to leave class & trying to think of something to say so you don't have to say "I have my period"...not to mention being either ahead of or behind your friend in outward development, or not getting your period when all your friends have. That awkward summer when you have to either not go swimming or decide if your brave enough to try a tampon for the first time.
EDIT: Oh, and let's not forget the pain of trying to put in a tampon for the first time, doing it wrong and then having to pull that sucker out. Dry. Fucking hell.
Not saying boys don't have it rough, I'm sure unwanted boners, having your voice change, etc. are as much a major event for them as all the stuff I previously mentioned is for girls. The point is, no puberty is 'cool'. You don't just magically wake up one day with flawless skin, perfect tits, knowledge of how to perfectly apply make-up & a vagina that's just ready to be penetrated.
I'll take the hats.
