The ones I'm talking to have backtracked on it not existing now that this narrative has failed but are downplaying it as just a bunch of activists who care about the right things but sometimes commit minor crimes. Maybe US Antifa are more like that than European Antifa (though I have my doubts).
There's somewhat more truth to this as you get casual types who hang about on the periphery I guess. But European Antifa generally has a quite clear boundary between those who are just sympathetic and those who are the real cell that actually engages in things. Antifa believe in direct action and the use of violence to threaten and deal with their opponents. It's explicitly their thing from any Antifa I've ever known.

It's hard to tell but that looks ≈10,000 in a city of millions. People on Twitter are vastly exaggerating the size of protests and in some cases have used decade-old videos from foreign countries to "prove" their point.
