As far as the hating women thing, it's part of what in Phil's sheltered mind a 40-year-old male should act like. He's a "family man" now. Why else does he always say detractors are after his "family", not his "wife"? It might seem like no big detail, but he wants to portray himself like he's outside with an axe guarding the wife, four kids, and his elderly mom from roaming packs of Tevins (when if we're being completely honest he lives with one indifferent person and a really indifferent cat). But as a family man, in his socially awkward mind he also can't notice if a woman is attractive. It's not an SJW thing but his twisted interpretation of "adulthood". In reality this great protector of women views his mom as a source of loans, Kat as a maid, and every other woman as a video game slut.

Even in the shortened span of the Remake, Tifa is clearly important. She's the one who gets Cloud the mercenary job with Avalanche, and she's the one who knows Cloud from the past to start to get him to open up. It's so stupid.
