Agree, and I find it terribly ironic that the guy who clearly wanted to be seen as cool and tough choose to stream video games for a living.

Hate to tell you this Phil but that's something nerds do.

Maybe this is why he hates people like PDP and Ninja because they end up portrayed as "cool guys" and he isn't so it just frustrates the hell out of him. He's even said in recent streams that he wants people to take him and his advice seriously,

Oh he definitely hates them because they're popular and well liked. Not a therapist, and you don't need to be one to figure this out, but the easiest way to becoming bitter and mad at your life is to measure yourself to others. Especially regarding things like internet popularity, because regardless of how high effort, high quality what you're putting out is, popularity is not guaranteed. Even if you get popular, keeping that popularity is extremely difficult since the internet years are equivalent to real life days, people move on so fast online.

Most people don't just hate random other people who are successful. It's a lot more normal if they're success came at your expense and that's just it. Phil sees their popularity as his expense. Like actually caring and making their stuff as good quality as they could manage, they showed up Phil directly and deliberately so they could undercut and take his place in the market. Guys like Pewdiepie have also managed to keep themselves relevant by changing the content they make and continuing to thrive. They do this by watching trends, and keeping ahead of them, or setting them themselves if they have enough popularity. This is an affront to Phil since he's the type of guy that would have complained about having to switch from using a typewriter to a computer because he's always done his work using a typewriter and doesn't want to learn how to use a computer. Fuck, he'd complain about going from bronze to iron.

Put simply, Phil is hateful because he can't stand others doing what he does better than he can, and fears change even if its for the better. Which is, of course, entirely logical as he claims his brain is.

EDIT: found this minutes after posting this and holy shit it fits in here.

TW;DW (Too whiney; didn't watch):
  • Phil got hired at Best Buy because of his college degree and his "expertise in electronics" ( ), to work in a new department called 'Best Buy for Business'.
  • Their job was to target small businesses and try to sell them a bunch of computer crap (basically selling magazine subscriptions except with pre-built computers)
  • Phil says Best Buy spent too much money on launching this nationwide initiative, and also "corrupt" employees would cut out the middle-man and started their own small businesses doing networking by cultivating their client list from the contacts they made selling computer crap to people. (This is called 'building a social network' Phil. I know you're more used to the demolition side of social networking so I can see why you thought they were "corrupt")
  • People on the Business Teams got paid more than anyone in the store besides Management and the program wasn't making enough money.
  • Phil says Best Buy, instead of doing the "right thing" and making everyone on these failing teams store managers, tried to find ways to fire and layoff the Business Teams (sounds like this was just Phil's location because of how useless they were, rather than a national directive like Phil presents it)
  • Phil says Best Buy "illegally framed me to get me off the payroll", "this national chain mind you!" (It was a company wide conspiracy to personally fuck over Phil, it certainly wasn't management at his location taking an easy opportunity to rid themselves of a useless dumbfuck)
  • Phil was running an FGC tournament and he needed 2 PlayStation 2's so he bought them at his store.
  • The dumbfuck cashier just automatically gave Phil his discount.
  • The employee discout on equipment was for 'personal use only'.
  • Phil says, "These WERE for my own personal use, the fact that I was using them for a tournament was besides the fact" (No, Phil. It was "fact" that the only reason you bought them was to run a tournament and you used your discount. All you had to do was tell the clerk "Don't give me my discount on these, they aren't for me.")
  • Phil getting the consoles "at cost" meant he saved 40¢ apiece on them.
  • They noticed Phil had bought a total of 3 PlayStation 2's with his store discount and fired him for abusing his discount.
  • Phil says he filed for unemployment and Best Buy tried to deny him, and then the judge laughed at Best Buy and made them give Phil unemployment (and then everyone stood up and clapped right Phil?)
  • Phil concludes, "Corporations treat people like tools-like shit and step on them (why does this sound familiar? It's like I know someone who acts exactly like that or something. . .)
  • Phil was on unemployment until a few months later when daddy Dave got his retardo son a receptionist gig at his workplace.

Excellent deep lore.

Speaking of which, I am amazed SOK autists never tried to find/interview/harass "car pool hottie" or the canoodling couple who Phil snitched on for having an "inappropriate" work relationship.

Phil claims Best Buy fraudulently fired him and this was affirmed by a court. They should sue DSP for defamation.

The other great thing about that NEETbux appeal is that it proves he's lying about how long he worked at the helicopter plant. He's maintained he worked there from 2004 until he was fired with extreme prejudice terminated for literally no reason in 2010, and here we have smoking gun proof he was working somewhere else until 2006. I know some people do work two jobs but.... this is Pigroach we're talking about here.

Holy shit this is a brand new lie, up until now it's always been that he worked at Wells-Fargo out of school, got disillusioned with how corrupt they were, then took a job at the helicopter plant as soon as his dad could arrange it.

The only common thread here is that Phil worked for predatory institutions that targeted people with worthless product..... is this where he gets it from?:thinking::thinking:

Phil's positive chill stream today:

He seems looser, less controlled like he's barely holding it all together. More inclined to snap. Before it was the occasional rant when he took the right bait but now the slightest thing can set him off like this.

very loose Phil. If you keep snapping at viewers like this Twitch will eventually get sick of you, which would deprive us of all the lols. You need to strike the right balance where we're supplied steady lols but without overheating, causing a shut down of the whole system.

Only DSP could be in the worst financial situation of his life and simultaneously lash out and snap at his viewers even more than usual. If I had never heard of DSP I wouldn't even believe this level of self-entitlement and ungratefulness could exist in an adult male.

Not that I think his paypigs deserve respect from, well... anybody.

They did try. I'm sure theres leaks in the Fred Fuchs thread or the alog thread when the SOK leaks started coming out where Fred and that pickle rick avatar guy Pickle Fizz or something? tried doxxing them on LinkedIn but because their autists and LinkedIn won't let you see much details about them if you don't have the correct LinkedIn connections nothing came of it.

You know they'd try getting them on their 97 hour long podcasts.

Hey guys I’m super new to the DSP saga/lore but man is this such an interesting daily train wreck! Anyways I just saw this thread on Reddit that claims his bankruptcy case was dismissed? Anyone know if thats true? Thanks for keeping me entertained during quarantine!

Here’s the link: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.re...hils_bankruptcy_is_going_to_be_dismissed_for/

Why do the tards from reddit keep coming here with the same shit like they can scoop Kiwis on something like that? Goddamn.

From what I recall of the lore,

During High School Phil worked at the 'health food' place in the mall food court making salads. He said he went and talked to his old boss on 9/11 so he allegedly left on good terms if he was friendly and still talking to the manager there.

He then worked at Circuit City while in college. I don't know if he said why he left there.

After he got his business degree, Phil tried to get a job in the finance sector. Sadly, all the stupid companies he applied to wanted someone with experience. What the hell!? He refused to get an internship anywhere because he wasn't going to work for free (he was living with his parents at the time and surely wasn't paying rent, buying food, or had any major bills). He got some job selling insurance. It was a scam so Phil told them to fuck off and he didn't pay them the money he owed them.

Then he got the Wells Fargo job, then Best Buy, and then Helicopter Support.

Interesting to add that Phil always says he had to start doing YouTube because there were no jobs in his sector. Looking at his job history, his jobs were fast food customer service, retail customer service, telemarketing, banking customer service, retail customer service, and finally niche customer service.

There were not jobs in his sector. The only thing he has ever done is customer service. There are always customer service jobs anywhere you look.

To be fair, him getting banned would lead to the best REEmergency stream in quite some time and would be ideal for those looking for a short burst of high-quality entertainment.
Of course that's not happening any time soon. He would have to actually masturbate in front of children to get ba-
Actually, that might not be enough either..

As someone who almost took the selling insurance route, a lot of it does come off as scammy (whether it was legit or not, I dunno, I smelled a rat). Showed up to what was a group interview; okay, to move on to the next step you need to pay us for the training, which we'll reimburse you on your first paycheck, which by the way all paychecks will be determined based on how many sales you make; and since you're just starting off, we'll offer no leads or anything else, but the sky is the limit. They really pushed the "You can make [=====THIS MUCH MONEY=====]!!!!!" and then followed up with how much effort you put in, which is based on getting sales, and any sort of aid/training/etc you have to pay them for.

I noped the fuck out once they served brunch.

That aside, a lot of jobs now-a-days do have contradictions or other problems in their listings. In the IT field alone I've seen wonky ass posts that look like HR took a few notes and tried to piece a job posting together. Entry level positions requiring 3+ years of experience, cert requirements that are mis-matched or retired, supervisory positions being paid minimum wage, and all other sorts of shit. If I was to guess, he couldn't pencil fuck his resume to be appealing enough; or just took one look at the requirements and said "Nope."

I think the part that gets confusing is Phil usually references that he worked at the helicopter job for 5 years, and he got fired from there in 2010. So 2010 minus 5 years = 2005 right? There are a few occasions though where Phil corrects himself and says "Weeeeell, I guess it was more like 4½ years. It's the same way the amount Phil paid the movers went from $6K to $7K to "well over $10K".

Phil says he worked at Best Buy for less than a year. If I remember he's said that was late 2005 to early 2006. Then after 2 months daddy got him the helicopter job, so whenever he started in 2006 to when he got fired in 2010 was 4 years and a couple months that Phil exaggerates to 4½ years and from there he just rounds up to 5 years, even though it probably wasn't much over 4.

Insurance place was summer 2004, Wells Fargo somewhere during 2004 to early 2005, Best Buy was late 2005 to early 2006, and helicopter job was 2006 to 2010.

reckon he could get a job at best buy?

Honestly I don't know anymore, because while HR pretends to be "fair and equal and don't discriminate," they discriminate a fuck-ton. There's two people companies don't like hiring; old men and young women, why, because young women get pregnant and old men get heart-attacks, and they don't want to hire you to have you drop out on maternity leave or your death bed. They don't say it or even have it written down; but any HR person looking out for the companies best interests can/will use that to say they went with someone better. Could he, possibly, but he's not gonna beat out the high-school/college kids, and the moment he says he has a back problem (also being an old man), they definitely won't because that means he can't move product from the back or help customers carry shit.

Yeah that’s a great point. I guess I assumed that someone would hire him eventually. I mean even felons can get jobs (with government support I think). I just figured that even if he was making less money, he would overall be happier without being trolled. Of course that’s contingent upon him getting hired, which is would be difficult given that he has no skills and shit work ethic. It’s just a thought I had

An 11 year gap in your resume is a death sentence in regards to ever getting a good job again. Those years that Phil decided to waste on streaming to have quarters thrown at him should have been used to hone a skill set and a career. If he starts looking for a job in 5 years (he’ll be 43 then), there is nothing he can put on a resume that would even get him an entry level job in an office. The last time he would have worked in an office setting would be almost 20 years ago being a glorified customer service rep with no actionable experience.

DSP has put himself in a position where the chances of him obtaining a job that pays him as much as his current occupation will never be possible. His half-assed approach to everything he’s ever done has caught up to him since he can’t even put anything positive about his streaming on a resume: never held a fundraiser; never created a successful brand; never marketed himself; never branched out from what he’s doing; never solidified potential partnerships.

Phil is utterly fucked and a part of him knows it as he spends an inordinate amount of energy to not think too far into the distant future as only anxiety and stress await him down that road.

Slight powerlevel.

I have never, ever met a recruiter who doesn't perform a google search for your name the moment a CV lands on their desk. Not just a LinkedIn search, because that shit ain't exhaustive. No, a full search via their search engine of choice.

Mash "phil burnell" into google; first result in my incognito window is the Know Your Meme page which mentions the incident, second result is 'Phil Burnell getting arrested for his crimes', third result is a New Zealand fruit orchard.
Mash "phillip burnell" into google; first result is a tractor account under that name with the words 'blow me'.

Never mind the 11 year gap in work experience, or the bad back, or Phil's age. The only recruiter that doesn't instantly shred Phil's resume after googling him is either a budding detractor horrified/intrigued by what he sees or just as deep in the closet as Phil is.

Agree with your post, but that video is hilarious, it really shows the makers own insecurity; over 900k subs, less than 300k views on vid from nov 2019. Guess someone bought subs to inflate their numbers (Phil could do this too to make his channel appear more attractive but then again I guess we would just mock him for it if he did)

Only DSP could be in the worst financial situation of his life and simultaneously lash out and snap at his viewers even more than usual. If I had never heard of DSP I wouldn't even believe this level of self-entitlement and ungratefulness could exist in an adult male.

Phil is trying the findom kink I guess, his most loyal paypigs don't seem to mind (for a while at least, they seem to change every so often)

Imagine if he ever bothered to learn some video editing etc.
Then he would actually have at least few useful kind of marketable skills

Also remember that John Rambo lost his job at GameStop because he was appearing in videos with DSP and they didn't like the khantent. If you know DSP irl you're guilty by association. Kat will probably get fired when her boss finds out who she's married to.

As I recall a couple of old fans from back in the day Voodoo and KainBringingThePain also lost their jahbs not long after chatting directly with Phil.

Edit: If you're super bored and have the time to kill this is an interesting look into how little has changed with Phil over the years and how the same complaints people have in 2020 were still there at the peak of his popularity. But do well to remember that he's changed, he's machoored and he absolutely did everything correct.

Phil's degree would likely get him an entry level office job somewhere, and there would always be some customer service/retail job that would hire him. Phil's biggest hurdle would be keeping the job. Unless he drastically changes his mindset, he'd get fired quickly from anywhere.

Are YouTube views expected to 1:1 correlate with subscribers?
