The most counter-cultural position to take in the mid-2000s was unironic Bush supporter. Mainstream culture was aggressively anti-Bush.
Unlike TDS, Bush Derangement Syndrome was justified.

The religious right was a fake enemy propped up by the media. The things they were crusading against (fags, trannies, mass immigration) turned out to be worse for our society than we believed. Also liberals supported Bush's war, they just pretended to hate him to prop up Dem elections. They all voted for the Patriot Act, and Bush and Obama turned into best buds after the election.

In the 1570s, the Ottomans nearing the height of their power in simple terms invaded Cyprus and broke their word on a treaty. In response the Catholic powers of chiefly Italy sent a fleet to fight them.

Basically the RNC seems to recognize that sacrificing their warchest on a random election won't do them much good. They don't want to shave the DNC's beard, they want to cut off an arm. Most of the DNC gains from 2006 were gone in 4 years - not a lot of mileage for blowing your moneyshot load.

I don't think the RNC is going to go full-court-press to support Trump. The establishment doesn't like it.

Again, the people who are in real power are perfectly happy with the Uniparty system.

The DNC isn't. Some local/state Democratic orgs have. The National DNC doesn't like "the squad" and wants them gone. Pelosi only completely lost her fucking mind after 2018 when the DNC needed to do SOMETHING to keep their voters from revolting.

The DNC has enacted policies that black-ball consultants who work with challengers in Democratic Primaries after 2018. They are likely to eliminate AOC's congressional district to get rid of her and blame it on Republican gerrymandering. The DNC doesn't want another repeat of the 2018 surprises where long-standing candidates were unseated by other Dems in the primaries, many who didn't put time & prove party loyalty.

Or to put it another way: With the exception of HR director Karen, do you believe any corporation actually gives a shit about how many women are hired? No. What they care about is the perception that they care.
